service Effective July 5 Ernest Marti nelli formerly of the inspection department of the head office of irst National Bank has been ap pointed assistant cashier and will assume the duties of operation officer of the Sparks branch of irst National according to Questa president of the bank Mr Martinelli is a native of Sparks and attended its schools and later the University of Ne vada where he obtained his BA degree majoring in economics He joined the main office staff of irst National Bank of Nevada as a bookkeeper in May J950 and in October of that same year joined the Army where he yesterday pleaded guilty to a charge of drunken driving and was given his choice of a $200 fine or 100 days in the county jail by Justice of the Peace William Beemer The court ordered a 30 day sus against Harolds Club was dis missed yesterday but the score was evened before the end of the afternoon when a new action was filed against the large Virginia St casino The court dismissed a suit which had been filed in January of 1952 by Joseph Schonfeld who claimed that a beer glass was dropped from an escalator and struck him on the head Schon feld had asked for $25668 in damages The case was dismissed with prejudice indicating that an out of court settlement had been made The suit which was recorded yesterday was filed by Mr and Mrs Clinton Sweet According to the complaint Mrs Sweet was knocked from a bar stool by an intoxicated man on July 4 1953 She contended that the club was negligent for allowing the drunken patron to occupy the Seat next to hers The complaint also named the bartender and the intoxicated man as defendants although neither was identified by name Damages in the amount of $46220 were requested Attorneys for the plaintiff were William Raggio and Peter Eche verria Slide Mountain the scene ofReno Ski Bowl is bracing itself for the greatest summertime 1 assaults ever made by mankind that area according to oper ators of the recreation area Hundreds of information from banks and other organizations on the estate for purposes of administra tion Driver of Car Cited Victim Confined To Hospital OLSOM PRISON Calif July 1 (UR) Jesse Rushing 50 olsom prison convict was captured with out resistance today on the Por tola Reno road after only 24 hours of freedom Rushing walked away from the honor camp near Portola yesterday He was picked up by a camp guard near Hallelujah Junction He was convicted of burglary in Los Angeles in 1950 and forgery in 1954 ive year old building records of City Building and Safety Department were smashed during June when the office issued $2714179 worth of building permits According to figures released yesterday by Ronald Coleman building and safety inspector the figure includes $2511365 in permits for new $12247 653 in 1953 Two Civil Air Patrol fliers escaped serious injuries last night when their small plane crashed nose first into Washoe Lake Emmett Woods and Don Amodei both of Carson City were taken to the Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City shortly after the crash One reportedly suffered minor internal injuries and the other reported a shoulder injury They apparently walked from the plane afterit had dipped into the shallow wa ter near the south end of the lake not far from the west shore Both men are employed by the National Guard in Carson City according to State Highway De partment officials who were at the scene of the accident The plane was apparently owned by a Carson City CAP unit Three witnesses told officials that they had seen the plane circling at a low level shortly
