3, 1996, in his home. A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of Mary Wilson Gregory of Blacksburg and Randy Marion Huskey of the home. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev.

Van Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. The Gilmore Mortuary is in charge. Otice Blackwell Otice Howard BlacKwell, 72, of 302 E.

O'NealSt, died Friday, Aug. 2, 1996, at his residence. A native of Cherokee County, he was the widower of Edithe Walker Blackwell and son of the late Jeff and Iretta Earls Black- Korean War. He completed his military career in the Reserves and retired as a Lt. Colonel Since 1981 he had been actively associated with the N.C.

Civil Air Patrol. Also surviving are two son, Steven Robert Hawkins of Apex and James Lawson Hawkins of Raleigh; one daughter, Nancy Hawkins Vann of Cary, N.C and five grandchildren Services will be held Tues day at 11 a.m. at Trinity Bap tist Church. Joe Potter Joe R. Potter, 70, of 511 13th died Sunday, Aug. 4, 1996, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Gaffney, he was the husband of Gladys B. Potter and son of the late W.S.

and Geneva Godfrey Potter. He was retired from Southern Loom Reed, a Navy veteran and a member of Faith Baptist Church. Also surviving are one son, Terry E. Potter of Gaffney; four sisters, Pauline Hammett, Dean Wallace and Janette Hawkins, all of Gaffney, and a i i Denise Falls Wallace, 40, of 123 Lead-mine St, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

A native of GafTney, she was the former wife of Ulysses Wal-laet and daughter of Norma 'Falls. Also surviving are one daughter, Sharena Wallace of the home; three sons, Isley Wallace, Quesley Wallace and Shun ley i Wallace of the home; and three grandchildren. Delia Deal Services for Delia Simmons Deal, 85, of 214 Hill will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m.

at Foster Funeral Home. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery. Foster Funeral Home is in charge. Corene Stapleton SPARTANBURG Corene Martin Stapleton, 68, of 121 Sprouse died Friday, Aug. 2, 1996, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A native of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Paul W. Stapleton. She was a member of Clifton Second Baptist Church and was retired from Hoechst Celanese Corporation. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Stapleton Wilkins of Boiling Springs; two sons, Paul R. Stapleton of Moore and Charles Randall Stapleton of Lake Bowen; two sisters, Faye Sue Edge of Spartanburg and Elizabeth Allison of Gaffney; one brother, Felix Martin of Cow- Services were held today at 11 a.m.

at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints conducted by Bishop Archie Fowler and Elder Floyd Martin. Burial was in Fred enck Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Sean Wor ley, Saul McGinnis, Wofford Phillips, Tracy Blackwell, Mike Blackwell, Joel Blackwell and Steve Blackwell. The family is at the residence. Leroy Col (DibbySole, 69, of 754 State Line died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center. A native of GafTney, he was the son of the late Weaver and Macy Ruppe Cole. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. Surviving is one brother, Edward (Jack) Cole of Gaffney.

Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Shuford-Hatcher Chapel with the Rev. Chris Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marshall Beason, Gene Littlejohn, Lan-ford Littlejohn, Charles McCraw, Phillip Whisenant and Solon Ruppe.

Robert Hawkins Robert Lawson Hawkins, 69, of 4135 Laurel Hills Raleigh, N.C, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 1996, at his home. A native of Shelby, he was the husband of Ann Moorhead Hawkins, formerly of Blacksburg, and son of the late Robert Newton and Mildred Cabaniss Hawkins.

He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and had a graduate degree in education from Duke University He.was principal of Martin Junior High'ScKool until hiijretirement from public schools. Later he was principal of the Jotjn Nicols School at the Oxford, NiC, orphanage.
