The Advertiser says It is painful to centemplate tbo extraordinary depres? sion which prevails In every department of trade at the preaent moment Notwithstanding the decline in the price of canal freight, the great difficulty of negotiating exchange, aud the lamentable state ol affaire at tbe East as well as in other parts of Ihe country, deters buyers from coming into market at this point, and produce of every description has consequently given way. In the meanwhile stocts are rapidly accumulating, and much embarrassment is experienced in providing suitable storage. The United States Gazette gives the following farther particulara of the forged Pittsburg bond Tbe Bond alluded to. with some others, was hypothe? cated by note broker oi this city to an eminent and Htlluent merchant for a loan of money. The loan being due and a balance of It unpaid, the note broker author? ized a sale of the Bond. It waa accordingly sold Mt tho Board of Brokers by Sa i uel Gorgae, Jr. Esq.

tbe mer? chants' broker. Charles Macaleater. Esq. became tbe purchaser. The latter gentleman transmitted the Bond to Pituburg to have it transferred to own name.

On advice being received of the refusal to admit it to trans? fer, Mr. claimed and received from Mr. Gor gas tho sum he had paid, whilst Mr. was reim? bursed by his principal. We also learn that tho note broker was employed to negotiate the loan on these bonds by a gentleman who Is engaged In the manufacture of iron at Browns ville.

Pa and in the sale of his manufactures at Pitts? burg. The late Treasurer of tho city nl Pittsburg is, wn believe, the dook-keeper or agent of this gentleman. If interest haa been duly paid on the Bond in question, it must have been provided by the late Treasurer, who can certainly explain the transaction. We have reason to believe that a loan was made some time ago bv one of our Banks to the Brownsville gentleman, on a larger amount ol Pittsburg Bonds, which was paid at muturity. This farther explanation may enable our Pituburg con? temporary to unravel tho mystery which conceala the actors in this fraud.
