Teachers in Ormsby State's Highest Paid Statistics Compiled By Taxpayers COOKING FOR COMMUNITY CHEST JMste gfounwl Reno, Oct. 25, '57--13 SHOW STARTERS Elementary school in Nevada are now receiving an annual salary of $4,868 and high school teachers receive an average $5.222, according to figures released yesterday by the Nevada Taxpayers Association. Highest salaries among the 17 counties, are paid in Ormsby county, and Washoe is second, the survey reveals. In a special study on school expenditures, the taxpayers' association showed the comparative teachers' salaries and the administrative cost in each of the state's 17 counties. The total cost of administration non-teaching, non-library personnel who are listed under "instruction" amounts to 9.6 per cent of the statewide school budget, the report showed.

The association's report said Nevada schools lists salaries of school principals, supervisors and secretaries as "instruction" costs and many persons object to this classification. The taxpayers' association made a study to determine how much of budgets was being devoted to "administration" and to non-teaching and non-library personnel who are presently classified under "instruction" in the budgets.
