H. Ab the, authorities probe deeper Into the affairs of Gravesend, the mystery the Illegal Issue of bonds and town securities by John Y. Jtc- Cane grows deeper. Just previous to McKane's trial, and when he needed ready money for his de- fensc, there was an Illegal Issue of bonds from the town, and It has been charged that he raised money on these securities to defray his trial expenses. This his friends denied.

BM A new clue to soma of the missing bonds was furnished by Frank L. Wood- 'ward, of the Dime Savings Bank, Nor- wlch. and George Colt, of the BB Chelsea Savings Bank of the same place, BB when they called on Comptroller Com In, Brooklyn, this morning, with 19,000 of the missing bonds. Mr. Woodward had 111,000 of the bonds.

He said he did not want the Interest due but wished to nave the bonds reglsteted. The bonds were dated Jan. 13,1894. BJ They were not Indorsed, were unsigned did not bear any name on the face, BJ 'The bonds held by Colt nere dated July BJ 27, 1833, and boro the stamp of Collin and BJ Stanton. They were not certified on the BJ back and were unsigned.

Mr, Corwln said the bonds were Illegal BJ and Incomplete. What puzzled Mr. Corwln was the fact that the numbers of the securities are higher than the BJ records show to have been Issued. lie never knew, and as near as he can find out nobody now In Gravesend can tell, BJ the bonds were Issued. BJ McKane Is the only person, possibly, BJ who can explain their Issue.
