Worth today la the difference in emphasis on the party purpose as expressed in communication! to local Democratic leaden by National Democratic Chairman Lawrence and new State Democratic Chairman Elmer Baum of Austin O'Brien notified Tom Green County Democratic Chairman (Pat) Murphy of the meeting describing it in words as a planning session get the Humphrey-Muskie campaign San Angelo attorney Earl Smith newly elected 25th Senatorial District Democratic committeeman waa informed of the meeting by a letter from Baum who was appointed state chairman earlier this month by Democratic gubernatorial nominee Preston Smith purpose of the session is to help organize the campaign efforts for local district state and national Democratic letter read In explaining the letter Smith said: Just wanted to make it clear the meeting is not confined to the Humphrey campaign" Asked if that was to be interpreted as a lack of support by Baum or the state party organization fa Humphrey Smith his wife Mearl live at 1412 Phillips They have four children two boys and two girls Angeloan Said Slill Critical TEMPLE (STNS) A San Angelo man remained in critical condition late Wednesday night at Scott and White Hospital suffering from second and third degree burns over 60 per cent of his body The man is John Schmitt 20 the son of Mr and Mrs Edward Schmitt of 2473 Princeton in San Angelo The injured Schmitt was burned Tuesday morning after plane in which he was riding crashed in a pasture three miles west of Franklin in Robertson County The crash occurred shortly after takeoff The pilot of the nlane was identified as Gerald McMillian of Angleton The plane reportedly struck a power line and then spun into a horse trailer The crash caused a fuel tank on the plane to explode Schmitt was waking in Angle-ton fa a packing company The fatha of the injured man is an employe of Ethical in San Angelo and his mother works fa Texas State Bank Scott and White Hospital officials said Schmitt will probably remain on the critical list tor another 24-hours Angelo Man Found Dead 01 Wound A 59-year-old San Angelo man was found shot to death In his home here shortly before 11 am Wednesday Peace Justice Ava Smith said Emery Otis Myers was found dead in his home at 830 20th St He had been shot once in the chest the bullet leaving an exit wound on his aide A 30-30 caliber rifle was found at the feet investigating officer! said Authorities estimated the man had been dead since about 6 am Wednesday The man operated a small store at Armstrong and 10th streets and when the owner passed by Wednesday morning he discovered it was not open He found Myers body when he checked the residence Smith was withholding his official verdict In the death late Wednesday pending further investigation to Big Spring with the Continental Oil Well Supply Co Later in 1940 he formed the Kointz-Carter Oil Well Supply Co and operated it until 1959 when he and Mrs Kountz operated an antique shop He was a charter member of the Tulsa Demolay organization and a member of First Presbyterian Church He was a former Rotarian He was married to Mable Carter July 7 1946 Survivors include his wife and a brother
