Secretary Janet Rastetter read roll can and 1 1 members responded with. 'A famous person I would like to Rastetter then read the minutes for the previous meeting, and Barbara Fish gave tha treasurer's report Thomas lead tha group in singing "When You Wore a and Gosnell read a poem for self-enrichment. Beeman read two poems in a bute to Edria Tutorow, and Carolyn Brake gave the health and safety lesson on the care of food at a picnic, pitch-ins and other occasions.

Thomas and Rastetter gave a lesson on "Resolving Anger for a Healthie'r and Happier and Lee Ann Guilden-becher gave a lesson entitled Three Fatal Words: Wait a Members of the club welcomed new member Judy Hartley, and Thomas held a rootin' tootin' auction sale in which she sold articles including a pair of shoes, dish towels, books and other goods too numerous to mention. Betty Snodgrass won the door prize and the meeting was adjourned with singing of the club prayer. Refreshments were served to guests Snodgrass and Eleanor Clark, as well as to Carolyn Brake, Helen Gorman, Francis Brown, Thomas, Rastetter, Elma Harris, Judy Hartfy, Guildenbecher, Barbara Fish, Gosnell and Beeman. The next meeting will be the May 19 breakfast with Fish and Guildenbecher as hostesses. 50 or older is welcome to join the Guild.

Dues are $6 par year. Euchre is played at 1 pjn. Tuesdays and bridge at 1 p.m. Wednesdays. Woman' Aglow Outreach The Aglow Fellowship welcomes all women to its network of Christian women reaching out through encouragement and prayer to the needs of hurting woman.

The Aglow Fellowship will be meeting from 7to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at 1203 S. Clinton Alexandria. Bring a friend. VFW Auxiliary The meeting came to order at 7 p.m., May 1 with the opening prayer and pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Following the reading of the minutes from the last meeting and the treasurer's report. East Side Ho me makers Club The East Side Homemakers Club met Friday, April 28 at the home of Garnet Beeman with Margaret Gos-nell serving as co-hostess. President Ruth Thomas called the meeting to order with the reading of the club prayer and the salute to the flag before introducing Beverly Snod-grass and Eleanor Clark, two guests from Kokomo. The attendance price went to Betty Cooper, and the weekly drawing was unclaimed by Jean Irwin, Barbara Cunningham, Beverly McDaniel, lenora Lemond and Lisa Rowland. The door prize was unclaimed by Gloria Jones. The bar dues were won by Maureen Horn. The next meeting will be at 730 p.m.

May 25. We hope all of our sisters have a great week. Senior Guild The Senior Guild held its monthly dinner at noon Thursday, May 11. Hostesses Lela Naylor and Carolyn Kimmel served a delicious chicken dinner with members carrying-in other dishes and desserts. Those attending were hostesses and Emma Stevens, Lawrence Auler, Mary Downey, Helen Johnson, Lucille Warner, Dorothy Hughes, Mary Quinn, Kay Kern, Mildred Croy, Anna Hoppes, Jackie Mellinger-Bradley, Glenna Lynch, Gertrude Haas, Martha Cowart, Garnet Beeman, Willis Sturm, Marilyn Shuftz, Eileen Lower and Frank Hughes.

Following the dinner bingo was enjoyed. The next dinner will be at noon Thursday, June 8. (Randy Chambers photo) Travel the Oregon Trail People The Children's Department at the Alexandria-Monroe Public Library will start signing up children for its two summer reading clubs on Tuesday, May 30. This year's theme is Travel the Oregon Youngsters from infancy may participate.

Prizes will be awarded as books are read throughout each club. Special programs are planned for both groups this summer beginning with "Dinger the Dragon mascot from the Fort Wayne Wizards, Traveler's Tales from Conner Prairie, folk singer Mark Dvorak and other programs, such as Traveling the Trail and the Gold Rush. A party will be held for children completing the clubs and will feature entertainment performed by the "Spoon sponsored by Woodrow Meyer in memory of his son, Michael. Donations from Subway, Coca-Cola and K.R. Montgomery and Associates will make the party possible.

Children will have a chance to win special prizes throughout the programs simply by participating. For more information, please call 724-2196. Adult Reading Program The Alexandria-Monroe Public Library will be having its first AdultYoung Adult Summer Reading Club this year. The program starts May 30 and continues through July 1 All that is needed to participate is a current Alexandria-Monroe Public Library card. The program involves a patron submitting an entry for each book read.

There will be weekly drawings and a grand prize drawing at a party July 6. Several area businesses have donated merchandise or services to the prog-ram to be used as prizes. Patrons will also be given the opportunity to give a written critique of a book and have it posted in the library. In additionjhere will be day and evening programs for both adult and children. The programs will include the Fort Wayne Wizards' mascot Dinger the Dragon, Conner Prairie, and Mark Dvorak, folk musician.

He served as a Seaman Second Class with the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947, and attended the Frankton Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; two step-daughters Debra Quimby and Sandra Brummett, Anderson; a step-son, Michael Kelley, Azle, Texas; a brother, Herschel (wife Kathy) Davis, Phoenix, and several step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents. Cremation took place with private family services to be held at a later date.

The family received friends at their residence on Sunday, May 14 and arrangements were handled by the Owens Funeral Home, Alexandria. Coppock Rick G. Coppock, 42, Alexandria, died May 10 in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, as a result of injuries received from an industrial accident earlier in the day in Anderson.

Born Sept. 11, 1957 in Marion to Harry and Evelyn Irene Campbell Coppock, he had moved to Alexandria in 1986 A former employee of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad, he had been on disability since 1 986. Surviving are his wife, Nena Bird Coppock; a daughter, Kathy Coppock; and a son, Scott Coppock, both at home; two sisters, Judy (husband Jerry) Ward, Orestes and Janet (husband David) Hamilton, Marion; a brother Robert Coppock, Stuart, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father-in-law, James Bird. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2 p.m.

Saturday, at the Owens Funeral Home, Alexandria with tha Rev. Judith Jennings officiating. Cremation followed with private family services to take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. May 10, 2000 Arlene F.

Heady Arlene F. Heady, 61, died Sun-; day, May 14, at her residence after a sudden illness. Born Dec. 7, 1938 in Elwood tok Merle and Ruth (Brown) Walsh, she was retired from Delco Remy, Anderson, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Alexan-: dria Eagles Lodge 1771. Surviving are her husband, Tho-; mas A.

Heady, whom she married July 2, 1966; three daughters, Andrea (husband John) Lundy, and Merlynn (husband Jack) Haines, "-z both of Alexandria, and Lisa (hus- band Tim Lawler) Heady, Ander-i; son; three brothers, Jack (wife Judy) Walsh, Dayton, Ohio, David (wife Karen) Walsh, McCordsville, and Steven L. Walsh, Anderson; two sisters, Beverly (husband Jack) Bassmer, Anderson, and Nancy (husband Dee) Noe, Danville, III; and six grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Richard Walsh, and two grandsons, Brock and Breck Haines. Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Hueston-Whetsel Funeral y.

Home, Alexandria, with the Rev. Marvin Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. An Eagles Memorial Service was held at 6:30 p.m.
