Meanwhile the Alabama defense was rushing State quarterback Tommy Pharr the league's best passer and covering his receivers well enough to keep his passing below its usual standard Alabama wrapped up the game in the first half The Tide scored on a 2-yard plunge by Ed Morgan 1-yard dive by Pete Jilleba and added field goals of 26 and 29 yards by Mike Dean who missed two of five field goals botched
