Roanoke Spikemen Sharp LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) Another onslaught on the record books was expected today as AAA, AA and A high school thinclads perform in the 37th Southwestern Relays. Some 1,800 persons turned out for Wednesday's class and action and saw 11 records fall. Bob Thomas of Father Teurlings of Lafayette was the top man in Wednesday's action as i he smashed three records in class B. Thomas heaved the shot 53Vi, hurled the discus 143- 2'i and tossed the javelin for new records.

He also finished second in the pole vault. The only other record in class came when Jimmy Laborde of Bordelonville stepped off a 9.9 in the 100-yard dash. Seven records fell in class competition. Roger Parker of Sikes turned in a 10-flat in the century and then sparked the Sikes 440-yard relay team to a 46-flat to better records in both events. The other members of the Sikes team were Mickey Parker, Karl Womack and Bruce Crain.

Roanoke's sprint medley relay team of Ronnie Dupont, Pat Bowers, Larry Hargrave and in Relays Matthew Meyer shattered the Maurice clipped off a 15.1 in the standard in their specialty with a 3:51.4 time. The mile relay unit of Steve Meyer, Matthew Meyer, Hargrave and Bowers were clocked in 3:39.9 which also bettered a class standard. Leonard Troutman of Roanoke hurled the javelin 181-6 for a new mark, Cordell Darlez of 120-yard high hurdles and Shannon Cary of Lacassinc got off a shot put of for the other class standards. In unofficial team standings, Roanoke piled up 71 points for the top spot in class and Louisiana School for the Deaf had 36 to lead class B.
