STUDENTS' CHOICE Choten pretidenU of their classes at Gatesville High School during claaa officer elections this week were, left to right, freshman Brent Bannister, Cloyce Box, onetime Jonesboro farm boy who attained stardom in the National Football League and then became a notable in Southwest oil, banking and financial circles, has been chosen Man of the Year for 1983 by the Jonesboro High School Ex-Students Association. He is to be recognized at the annual JHS homecoming Oct. 7-8. The homecoming celebration will begin at 7 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 7, at the Jonesboro football field. The 1983 homecoming queen and the coming home queen are to be presented and Box is to be introduced as Man of the Year. Following will be the District 8 six-man football game between the Jonesboro Eagles and the Cranfills Gap Lions. REGISTRATION for the homecoming activities on Saturday, Oct.

8, will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the school t)uifding with the Eagle cheerleaders in charge. Lunch prepared by the Jonesboro Fire Department will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school cafeteria; the charge will be $4 for adults and S3 for children under 12.

At 1 p.m. the homecoming crowd will gather in the high school gym for an Ex-Students Association business meeting and a speech by Box. The ex-student travelling the longest distance will be recognized, along with the earliest graduate present, the homecoming queen and the coming home queen. Present officers of the JHS Ex-Students Association are Mary Lou Powell, president; Bobby Lynn McCorkle, vice president; and Sylvia Watson, secretary-treasurer. New officers will be elected for 1984 at the Oct.

8 meeting. BOX, WHO RESIDES in Frisco, is a corporate partner and chief officer of CKB and Associates and an individual partner in the OKC Limited Partnership. He was formerly president of the Oklahoma Cement Company and later chairman of the board and president of the OKC Corporation. He began his business career with George A. Fuller Company Inc.

Class Officers Elected at GHS CLOYCE BOX Former Eagle 'Man of Year' the 1938-to-41 period when he and his twin brother, Boyce, were Eagle standouts in all sports, particularly basketball.

They played key roles in winning district basketball titles under Coach P. T. Lemmons. Box attended West Texas State University before entering the U. S.

Marine Corps in 1942. He served as an officer during World War II. AFTER THE WAR he and Boyce returned to West Texas State, where they starred in football. Cloyce was drafted by the Detroit Lions and was a stellar pass receiver from 1949 to 1954, Rudy Wood, vice president; Karen Derrick, secretary.
