Actor sells his own woodwork Film producer, Mr. Frank Launder, with actors and actresses from the coming new comedy film, The Great St. Trinian's Train were among guests at a champagne party to launch "The new shop opened by actor Michael Hunt. also in the film. at Kingston Blount.

All the furniture and other wooden articles are made at Michael Hunt's workshop, Aston Woodware, Aston Hill in Lewknor, Oxfordshire. Miss Tessa Blomfield, an art teacher. does all the weaving, including the attractive shades on the wall lamps lighting the shop on Sunday. Among examples of Mr. Hunt's work on display was a refectory table priced at 50 gns.

Peter, Miss A. J. Boyd-Carpenter has a storeroom where, among many items, she sells household linen, woven materials, eiderdowns, blankets, china, pottery and produce. She travels all over the country collecting articles, and makes many of them herself. All the proceeds go to the Chalfont Colony.

For Miss Boyd-Carpenter, cousin of the Conservative M.P., is chairman of the executive committee for the governing body of the National Society for Epileptics, the purpose of which is to provide necessities and small luxuries for the colony. The support given to this body is very important, as the colony does not come under the National Health Service. The 11th annual Christmas Market was attended by people on Friday and Saturday in the recreation hall at the colony. One hundred and ninety-three pounds was collected in two and a half hours on Friday, when the market was open only to staff and friends. Over £2OO was raised on Saturday, when it was open to the general public.

Almost all the goods came from Miss Boyd-Carpenter's store, and they included knitwear, garden produce, novelties, presents, toys, and pet mice! Total proceeds were £470 with which the committee hope to buy insulated food containers. This will enable food to be kept warm while being transferred from the central kitchen to different parts of the colony. There are 503 beds for colonists, and a staff of over 150. The local authorities pay for patients' board and lodging. Colonists are trained in different types of work, including market gardening and farming.
