MONDAY, MAY 16, 2011 THE GAFFNEY LEDGER PAGE 3 LOCAL NEWS OBITUARIES Janie Putnam SPARTANBURG Janie, Ruth Marsh Putnam, formerly of Worden Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Spartanburg, she was the widow of the late Charles Robert Putnam and daughter of the late Hedrick Marsh and Janie "Minnie" Wall Marsh. She was a graduate of Limestone College and received her Master's Degree in Education from Converse College. Mrs. Putnam taught Advanced Placement U.S.

History and Teacher Cadets at Boiling Springs High School for 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church North Spartanburg and the longest living leukemia transplant survivor. Surviving are two daughters, Julie Huskey and husband, Steve of Gaffney and LuElla D'Amico and husband, Scott of Stillwater, four brothers, Virgil Marsh of Chicago, Wayne Marsh of Matthews, N.C., Leonard Marsh of Spartanburg and Jim Marsh of Boiling Springs, S.C.; two grandchildren, Steven Chase Huskey and Natalie Grace Huskey; special cousins, Paul Miller of Crofton, and Martha Taylor of Spartanburg. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Putnam, and a brother, Lamar Marsh. The family would like to express thanks to Regional Hospice Home, Eden Terrace and its caregivers and Gladys and Bob Ziegelheafer of Gaffney.

The family received friends from 2 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaffney. Funeral services immediately followed at' 3 p.m. at the church with Rev.

James (Bucky) Brown officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Chase Huskey, Mark Marsh, Grant Marsh, Ray Rhinehart, Brian Ziegelheafer and David Ziegelheafer. com. Patricia Price Patricia Stepp Price, 65, of 401 Elm passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Jesse James Stepp and Pauline Hunsinger Stepp. Mrs. Price was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

41 years with Milliken. Evelyn Blanton Evelyn Smith Blanton, 83, of 168 Blanton Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 13, 2011 at her residence. Born in Blacksburg, she was the wife of Thomas A. Blanton Sr. and daughter of the late Floyd L.

Smith, Sr. and Mary J. Smith. Mrs. Blanton was prior of Overbrook Beauty' Salon, worked for the Cherokee County Tax Assessor's Office, was a real estate broker a and a freelance paralegal.

She was a sign language interpreter for the deaf. She loved to dance and was a member of several dance clubs. Mrs. Blanton was a member of West End Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, also surviving is a son, Thomas A.

Blanton, Jr. (Scott) and wife, Vickie; two daughters, Kathy Blanton and Susan Wilson and husband, Terry, both of Gaffney; a sister, Inez Byars of Gaffney; six: grandchildren, Anthony W. Evans, Michael D. Evans, James W. Blanton (Will), Jennifer M.

Wilson, Katie S. Wilson and April P. Parker and husband, Jason; and a greatgrandchild, Gavin Smith. Mrs. Blanton was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas A.

Blanton, III; three brothers, Floyd L. Smith Thomas C. Smith and Robert E. Smith; and two sisters, Sue Hughey and Paula Decker. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the many caregivers and a tremendous thanks to two special caregivers, Tera Barnwell of Hospice Care of South Carolina and Billie Jo Willis.

The family will receive friends from p.m. on Monday, May 16, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wayne Brown and Chaplain Vernon Thornhill officiating.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he was the husband of the late Nellie (Hop pie) Fortenberry Donahue and the son of the late Arthur Lee Donahue Sr. and Goldie Grace Cook Donahue. He was a graduate of Limestone College and attended University of Georgia. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a U.S.

Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Donahue was a retired Special Education Teacher for more than 30 years, having taught at B.D. Lee for 19 years. He attended Macedonia Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son, Andy Donahue and wife, Cindy, of Gaffney; three daughters, Susan Donahue Smith, Sara Donahue Medley and Nancy Donahue Clary and husband, Buddy, all of Gaffney; a daughter-inlaw, Jane Donahue of Gaffney; a brother, Arthur Lee Donahue Jr. of Rome, a. sister, Pollye Donahue Heavner and husband, Joe, of West Columbia; 10 grandchildren, Eddie Duff and wife, Billie, Kayce Donahue, Katye Donahue White and husband, Heath, Paige Donahue, Drew Donahue, Justin L. Smith and wife, Shellie, Jeremy K. Smith and wife, Callie, Sharon Copeland and husband, Chris, Cheryl Fowler and Barbara Mobley and husband, Joel; and four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Duff, Grayson Duff, Browan Smith and River Smith.

Mr. Donahue was preceded in death by a son, Jack Donahue brother, Robert E. Donahue; and two sisters, Betty Jane Mitchell and Tamzie Thomas. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Claudia Combee, Tammy Wood, Valerie Huskey and Lisa Greer of Interim Healthcare and special caregivers, Vickie Price and Mauvaleen McDowell. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.

on Monday, May 16, at Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Duvall officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
