Your letter proves that not all dating clubs arerip-offs. However, my mail is a faithful reflection of what is happening out there, and it has convinced me that the overwhelming majority of dating services are highly questionable. I would never recommend one. Dear Readers: A while back I asked you to send in "Gems" for the columns. Bless you all, I have not enough to last for several years.

She is the daughter of Ronnie and Ann Boiand of 390 Twin Lakes Rd. Dear Ann Landers: Should a 5-year-old be permitted to attend a mortuary funeral of a beloved grandparent and view the remains in the casket? I am writing now because Grandma is terminally ill, and I know I will be faced with this problem within a few months.

My neighbor and friend says "absolutely not." She believes that the boy would be frightened, bewildered and perhaps traumatized if he saw his grandmother in a casket, stone cold with lots of makeup, appearing to be asleep. My sister, on the other hand, says that the boy should not be shielded from the realities of life because death is "the real world." I should tell you that "Gregory" is a well-adjusted child, bright and happy, and we have never had any problems with him. We have not told him yet that Grandma is not going to get well, but he seems to know it. Please give us some uidan Not Much Time in Stockton Dear Stockton: In my opinion. think you are presenting a lopsided picture.

Here's my story: I never cared for singles clubs and wasn't into the bar scene. I was brought up in a Christian home and believed that you went out with men you met in church or your place of work. Unfortunately, I never met a man in church or at work that I was drawn to. A woman I knew well and respected suggested that I sign up with a dating club. They had special rates for women between 18 and 30.

1 received 10 pages of names with detailed information about each candidate. I went out with 11 men, mostly respectable and pleasant, but there wasn't one that I wanted to see again. Then No. 12 appeared at my front door. I knew after the first date that he was the man I had been dreaming about and praying for.

I was trying on wedding gowns a month before he asked me to marry him. We have been happily married for 10 years and are still very much in love. Incidentally, I Ann Vi'H Landers a 5-year-old is too young to handle the experience you describe. The viewing at the mortuary is only one aspect that may be perplexing and upsetting to the child. Lowering the casket into the ground and leaving Grandma in the cemetery would be much more difficult for a youngster to deal with.

Most authorities believe that children under 8 years of age should not be subjected to open caskets and burial services. Dear Ann Landers: Can you stand one more letter about dating services? I hope so, becuase I 4 IV. -p B'lrad CI 1 JORDAN LEE DILL was 3 years old April 14. His brother, JACOB ANDREW, will be 2 years old April 29. They are the sons of Jordan and Angela P.
