W. Richard with burial in Mount Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday night from 7-8 at the funeral home. Horace Mott Horace Mott, 72, husband of Mrs. Carrie Gossett Mott of 2508 Edgewood Circle, died Thursday at 12:46 p.

m. in Cherokee County Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late William: and Lula Blackwood Mott, a member of the Woodmen of the World, retired owner and operator of Mott Garage, an employee of Auto Parts House, mechanic and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Frances) Covington of Shelby, N.

one brother, William Mott of Jonesville; one grandson, Ricky Mott Pettit of Norfolk, two great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. at ShufordHatcher Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Eugene Hines with burial in Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James J. Huskey, Earl Dean Toney, Fred Stoupe, Paul Harris, O. B. Elmore and Roger Huskey. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Auto Parts House and mechanics.

Body is at the funeral home where family will receive friends tonight from 7-9. Mrs. Verdia W. Painter Mrs. Verdia Williams Painter, 81, formerly of the Midway Community, widow of Rev.

John L. Painter, died Thursday at 2 a. m. in AllenBennett Hospital in Greer after one month of serious illness. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Leona Edwards Williams and a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, John Painter of Spartanburg and Louis Allen Painter of Gaffney; one daughter, Mrs. Marcelene Plemmons of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Herman Robbins of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services will be held Satur- day at 3 p. m.

at ShufordHatcher Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Revs. James Holder, Ernest MaHaffey and Ray Caldwell with burial in Midway Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark and Randy Plemmons and Douglas, Allen, Scott and Russell Painter. Body is at the funeral home where family will receive friends tonight from 7-8. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Midway Baptist Church Building Fund.

Family is at the home of the son, Louis Painter, in the Midway Community. Lela A. Peterson Lela Allen Peterson, 74, widow of Carl Peterson, died Wednesday at 11:30 p. m. in Charlotte Memorial Hospital.

A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Clark and Cynthia Pruitt Allen, a retired textile employee and a. member of Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church. Surviving are three sonsGlen, M. W.

and Albert Peterson, all of Blackburg; four daughters-Mrs. Aileen Grayson, Mrs. Barbara Harris and Mrs. Gloria Phillips, all of Blacksburg and Mrs. Helen Hardin of Smyrna; two brothers, Alexander Allen of Blacksburg and Brady Allen of Gaffney; one sister, Mrs.

Corrie Allison of Blacksburg; 11 grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday at 3 p. m. at Mt. Whitaker Baptist Church conducted by Revs.

Richard Duncan and Bill White with burial in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Glenn Childers, Doyle and Gary Peterson, J. B. Sanlin, Clyde Wilson and Emuel McDaniel. Family will receive friends tonight from 7-9 at Gordon's Funeral Home.

Body will be placed in the church Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Clarence C. Petty Clarence C. Petty, 89, of 2018 E. Frederick Street, widower of Marie Clary Petty, died Wednesday at 2:45 p.m.

in Cherokee County Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late William and Ella Cook Petty, a retired merchant and a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters-Mrs. Everette Wren of Belmont, N. C.

C. Phillips of Gaffney; eight grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat-grandchild. Services were held today at 4 p. m. at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev.

Bobby Morrow and Dr. Wayne Brown with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Poole, Rodney Camp, Wayne Goforth, Robby Gossett and John, Joe, Jimmy and Jack Wren. Miss Christine Peterson Miss Christine Peterson, 73, of Route 6, died Thursday at 7:35 in Cherokee County Memorial Hospital after five months of illness. A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Sara Ann Parker Peterson and a member of McKowns Mountain Baptist Church.

Surviving are one brother, Jessie Petterson of Gaffney; three sisters-Mrs. Lula Mae McAbee, Mrs. Margie Crow and Miss Pearl Peterson, all of Gaffney. Services will be held Saturday at 4 p. m.

at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church conducted by Rev. S. O. George and Dean Painter with burial in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Harold Dean Mullinax, Leonard McAbee, R. B. Peterson, Bobby Upchurch, William Lester and Leroy and Wayne Mullinax. Family will receive friends tonight at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home from 7-9. Miss Catherine E.

Galmer Miss Catherine Elizabeth Galmer, 27, of 308 Bryant Street, was dead on arrival at Cherokee County Memorial Hospital Thursday at 9 p. m. A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of Mrs. Gracie Jefferies Galmer of the home and the late Henry J. Galmer.

Also surviving are two daughters, Misses Felicia Mashall and LaToya Roberta Galmer, both of the home; two sisters, Miss Gracie Dianne Galmer and Mrs. Martha Jean Houey, both of Gaffney; two half sisters, Mrs. Annie L. Burris of Blacksburg and Mrs. Margaret Thompson of Charlotte, N.

Nancy Alice Wilkins Littlejohn, 68, wife of Robert Littlejohn of Apt. 20, Willow Oak Apartments in Cowpens, died Wednesday at 2:30 a. m. in Spartanburg General Hospital. A native of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Edna Brown Wilkins, a member of White Plains Baptist Church where she served as treasurer of the Pastor Aid Club and the Singing Class and former clerk of the church.

Services will be held Saturof Cowpens; one son, Robert Lee Littlejohn of Greenwich, two sisters, Mrs. Quincy Dawkins of Gaffney and Mrs. Susie E. Hamilton of Cowpens; one brother, John Henry Wilkins of Washington, D. 10 grandchildren.

Also surviving are three daughters- Mrs. Ida McLeod, Mrs. Edna Durrah and Mrs. Nancy Dawkins, all day at 4 p. m.
