Astoria, Dec. 2. -The steamer Nish-maha, which is in distress off the Oregon coast 60 miles south of the Columbia river, will be towed into the harbor here some time this evening' by I he tug Oneonta, which, together with the Algonquin and Snohomish, have gone to the assistance of the disabled vessel. According to a wireless message received here, the Nishmaha has developed engine trouble but is not In a precarious position. The steamer was bound for New York with a cargo of flour from the Astoria flouring mills.

The Merchants Exchange was advised at noon from Astoria that the Nishmaha, In tow of the Port of Portland tug Oneonta and the coast guard cutter Algonquin, would arrive in the lower river harbor at 5 :30 this afternoon. The Nishmaha, one of the Standifer 60a ton type of freighter, was launched July 21, the fifth vessel of her class to be built at the Vancouver yards. Jle-cently turned over to the shipping board, she was under ihe operation of the Pacific Steamship company and loaded flour for New York, 6500 tons being taken at Portland and 2000 tons more at Astoria. The ultimate destination of the cargo was Kurope. Saturday afternoon, on returning from the sea trial trip, the Nishmaha struck the cannery ship Reuce at the Kinney dock, damaging that vessel and the dock.

This had nothing to do, however, with the breakdown at sea occurring some time Sunday night. The Nishmaha called for aid from a point ID miles southwest of Cape Mears. about 60 miles from the mouth of the Columbia river. The coast guard cutter Algonquin immediately went to her assistance and attempted to tow her back to Astoria, but the line broke. The Snohomish from Port Angeles left Monday night, however, with the tar tug Oneonta from Astoria.

LOADING OF CARGO IS EXPEDITED Green Star Steamer Centaurus Is Due to Sail at an Early Date. To sail with full cargo 72 hours after delivery is the task that the Columbia-Pacific Shipping company has set for Itself in the loading of the Oreen Star steamer Centaurus. The Columbia-Pacific was named local agent for the Green Star line in a communication received Monday afternoon by A. C. Stubbe, general manager.

Eight steamers purchased from local builders and constructed or under con struction are to be loaded and dispatched within the next few months. The steamer Centaurus is complete and will make its river trial trip from the yards of the Northwest Steel company Wednesday. She will be turned over to the operators Thursday and will go on berth at the Fifteenth street terminal Immediately far loading. A general cargo of lumber, box shooks and other freight is now being assembled at the dock. If 'possible, the steamer will be dispatched Saturday night for Callao, Arica, Valparaiso and Antofagasta, on the west coast of South America.

After discharging, the steamer will load nitrates along the west coast for European or Atlantic coast delivery. The steamer Circinus is now beiner fin ished at the Columbia River Shipbuild ing corporation yards and will begin loading lumber about December. 15 for Australia. By the end of the month the Clauseus, still on the Northwest Steel ways, will be ready for delivery. The other five are to be built at the Standifer steel plant In Vancouver.

Two keels have been laid and others will be placed as soon aa emergency fleet hulls now on the ways are launched. It is improbable that any of the Green Star steamers will return to this port after leaving, as all are designed for the trade of the company in Atlantic wa ters. Hydrostatic Tests Made United States steamboat Inspectors made the hydrostatic tests on the steamer Centaurus at the Columbia River Shipbuilding corporation plant this morning. The vessel Is to have Its trial trip Wednesday and will be delivered for The Drugs Make the Prescription THE best written prescription in the world would be valueless unless the proper drugs in the proper quantities were used to fill it. or any druggist and get a three weeks' treatment of Blood-Iron Phos- phate and take one five-grain tablet with each meal. It's ten to one that you'll gain at least two pounds a week. but if you aren't satisfied you can have your money back for the asking. Blood-Iron phosphate is absolutely harmless; contains no dangerous or stimulant drugs, narcotics or alkaloids. All it does Is to build up the nervous system and make rich red blood.

Hundreds of people tight here in Portland who have tried It say It Is simply amazing to note wonderful gain In flesh, appearance, strength, endurance, vim and vigor that almost Invariably accompany the regu-Jar use of Blood-Iron Phosphate.
