ENTERTAINED MOTHERS. The mothers and" a few friends of the employes of the Kansas Telephone company were very pleasantly entertained yesterday afternoon from 2:30 until 4 clock in the new rest room the company has furnished or the comfort of the employes. Misses Manta Elder, Nellie Abcock, Ruby Dodd and Cora Frederickson received guests in the downstairs office aid directed them upstairs. Several beautiful bouquets of roses, hollyhocks, nasturtiums and sweet peas were used to decorate the room where the time was spent informally with Victrola selections. Refreshments of lemonade and angel- food "cake served by Misses- Daisy Abcock, Mary Dodd, Mary Neustister, Mildred Bryant and Vivian Sutherland.

A trip through the offices and the work of the operators which -was explained, to i the guests was an interesting part of the entertainment. A PARODY OF JUSTICE. Acquittal of Raadohr By Germans Rouses Belgians. Brussels, June 18. DESTITUTE IN BIRMINGHAM. Unemployment Blamed for Necessity of Emergency Measures. Birmingham, June 18 Declaring that as a result of unemployment many individuals and families are destitute in Birmingham, the city commission today issued a proclamation Galling upon the people for emergency relief measures. Investigation had disclosed, it said, that "unless definite and vigorous. are adopted to relieve the Situation, large numbers of our -people will suffer starvation, sickness and possibjy death." The proclamation asserted thatr it had been found that most of the unemployed are "wholly without the possible means of improving their condition." TWO KILLED, 4 WOUNDED.
