Mrs. Richard Thomas COWPENS Mrs. Alma Lee Thomas, 50, wife of Richard H. Thomas, of Route 1 died Monday night in a Columbia hospital after a brief illness. A native of Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Sadie Crocker Lee and a member of Mt.

Olive Baptist Church. Also surviving are four daughters-Mrs. Joyce Taylor of Inman, Mrs. Kay Hammett and Mrs. Susan Turner of Spartanburg and Miss Linda Thomas of the home; five sisters-Mrs.

Daisy Goode of Cowpens, Mrs. Rosa Evans of Gaffney, Mrs. Eunice Cash of Clifton, Mrs. Ruby Tisdale of Columbia and Mrs. Melissa McKinney of Spartanburg; one brother, James Lee of Texas; six grandchildren.

Services were held today at 4 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church conducted by Revs. Dean Poteat, Leonard Brannon and Paul Mullinax with burial in the church Inmates Seize Prison Officers ST. ALBANS, Vt.

(UPI) Four inmates at the Correctional Diagnostic Treatment Center armed with a fire extinguisher and parts of a chair seized two officers Tuesday night, officials said. Squads of corrections personnel and state police stormed the unit hours later restoring order, according to Superintendent John Whitcomb. He said four of the 11 inmates of the facility's maximum security wing began a fracas about 6 p.m. "What happened here is we Alonzo Jefferies Alonzo Jefferies, 44, died August 5 at Martland Hospital in Newark, N. Son of Mrs. Rozella Jefferies Dover of 127 Iris Lane, Gaffney, he was a native of Gaffney. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his mother are four sisters--Miss Elizabeth Jefferies, Miss Carleather Dover and Mrs.

Atharline Davidson, all of Gaffney, and Mrs. Hattie Lee Durrah of Spartanburg; three brothers- Booker T. and National Mayberry, both of Gaffney and Clarence Lee Mayberry of Cleveland, Ohio; grandmothers, Blanche Jefferies and Mrs. Agnes Mayberry. Arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Foster's Funeral Home.

Spencer L. Ruppe Spencer L. Ruppe, 79, husband of Mrs. Callie Johnson Ruppe, of Route 3 died Tuesday at 8:20 a.m. in Spartanburg General Hospital after one month of declining health and one week of serious illness.

A native of Cleveland County, N. he had lived on Route 3 most of his life. He was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Ruppe Ruppe, a retired textile employe and a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church. Also surviving are two sons, Bobby Joe of Route 2, Spartanburg, and John E. Ruppe of Route one daughter, Mrs.

Betty Lee Martin of Cliffside; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Jones of Shelby and Mrs. W. L. Littlejohn of Route eight have 11 people living in our detention area," said Whitcomb.

"In turn, after we got it narrowed down, we found that only four were involved. Seven voluntarily came out." According to Whitcomb, officer James Boswick, who was released midway through the disturbance, suffered a swollen mouth and a possible concussion. He was taken to a nearby hospital for observation. The other officer was Committee Seeks Nixon Materials By DANIEL F. GILMORE WASHINGTON (UPI) Two administration officials who are serving as custodians for Richard M.

Nixon's presidential tapes and documents met today with the Senate's CIA investigating committee to discuss access to the materials. White House Counsel Philip Buchen and General Services Administrator Arthur Sampson appeared before the panel after being subpoenaed by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence two weeks ago. Neither man commented to reporters when they entered the closed hearing. The panel wants an explanation of why Buchen and Sampson cannot turn over information from Nixon's materials on the former president's decisions regarding foreign and domestic spying activities. The committee is in the midst of a wide-ranging investigation of such activities.

Noah Fowler Noah Fowler, 63, husband of Mrs. Janie Mullinax Fowler, of 501 Willow Street died Tuesday night in Cherokee County Memorial Hospital. A native of Pacolet, he was a son of the late Gillman and Carrie Guyton Fowler. He was an employe of Musgrove Mill and a member of Southside Baptist Church. Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Webb and Jackie Boyd Fowler; one brother, Samuel Fowler; two sisters, Mrs.

Estelle Long of Route 4, Spartanburg, and Mrs. Sally Mathis of Columbia; half-sister, Mrs. Azalee Rhinehart; one grandchild. Services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel by Revs.

Blackstock Road, widow of James R. Blackwell, died Monday at 10:15 p.m. after a long illness. A native of Union County, she was a daughter of the late William and Trulissa Ann Foster Mitchell. Surviving are three daughters-Mrs.

Ethel Martin of Spartanburg, Mrs. U. H. Lovingood of Gaffney and Mrs. Guindyeta Nelson of Columbia; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

Services were held today at 2 p.m. at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel with burial at 5 p.m. at Aimwell Cemetery in Ridgeway. Mrs. 2.

0. Stevens BLACKSBURG Mrs. Molly Wray Stevens, 79, of Wray Road, widow of Zollie Otto Stevens, died Tuesday at 3:25 a.m. after a long illness. A Person County, N.

Early reports indicated every state police district in Vermont sent officers to the scene, but Whitcomb said he could not estimate the number of police present.
