admitted to the lar in 1895 and entered practice in his native town From 1902 to 1910 he served as solicitor of the 20th judicial district He was elected judge of the superior court in 1918 and resigned last year President Few of Duke announces Bolich as another new memler of the law faculty He was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford University and there took the degrees of BA in jurisprudence and liachelor of civil law He was a member of the legislature of 1927 "We intend to set up a law says President Few "that will lie' on a scale comparable to that on which the medical school is being planned 'We have inmind to make it not just a professional traiuiug school for those who intend to practice at(the bar but a school which along with professional preparation will also provide liberal training in law as one of the social sciences closely allied with government economics and business administration Such a law school should be developed rapidly here because it would not have to fight its way against opKsing traditions as is hap-Hning at some of the great law schools in the East right now: and it would lie largely recruited from Southern men with their well-known aptitude for law and IKilitics It could blaze the way in legal education as Johjis Hopkins blazed theVay in medical education a generation ago This kind of law school would probably be the most significant ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL SECTION That the Town of Chapel Hill dues issue its bonds pur uant to the Municipal Finance Act to an amount not in excess of 110000 for the purpose of constructing or reconstructing or surfacing its streets therein including grading and including the contemporaneous con struction or reconstruction of curbs gutters drains and sidewalks at least one-fourth of the cost of such local improvements exclusive of the costs of paving at street intersections is to be especially assessed SECTION 2 That a tax sufficient to pay the principal and the interest of said bonds shall be annually levied and collected SECTION That a statement of the debt of thq Town has been bua with the Clerk and ia now open to public inspection SECTION 4 That this ordinance shall take effect upon its final passage and shall not he submitted to the voters The foregoing ordinance was passed on the 8th day of August 1927 and was first published on the 19th
