Section 3omal Saturday May 19 1990 Blue Jays Stop Winning Streak At 10 9-3 By Press-Journal Staff DUNEDIN The Dunedin Blue Jays brought the Vero Beach Dodgers' 10-game winning streak to a screeching halt on Friday and padded the Florida State best record in the process The Blue Jays (33-10) belted five home runs including Juan Delarosa's grand slam in handing the Dodgers a 9-3 loss at Dunedin Stadium The Dodgers' streak is the second-longest in the 10-year history The 1980 and 1981 teams each won 12 straight The Dodgers (22-21) fell 9ty games behind the Eastern Division-leading West Palm Beach Expos who beat Osceola 5-2 for their team-record 13th straight win Starting pitcher John Knapp (2-2) allowed four of the Blue Jays' homers The Dodgers trailed only 4-3 when Dunedin erupted Enno they were waiting" Carroll has taken some of the top amateur cycling talent in the Treasure Coast area and assembled one of the state's top teams As his wife DeAnn said "We've got a killer team" The team consists of 15 riders in various levels of expertise the best of whom are in Category 2 Cycling categories run from 1-4 and Open with Category 1 being the highest and Open being the least attended spiring football practice at Vero Beach High School NCAA rules forbid college recruiters from making contact with high school players outside of the De- cember-February recruiting period but MacPherson showed Interest in a few Fighting Indians juniors most notably tailback James Stewart Stewart rushed for 1308 yards last season and finished second in the 100-meter dash at the Gass AAAA state championship meet last Saturday "Every year we look for skill people down here people with speed" said MacPherson who guided the Orangemen to an 8-4 season and a Peach Bowl victory over Georgia
