Patrick. Deceased) The voter of Charleston shuu.J not fail to ito to the polls next Tuv. day and vote oil the propositions pre-senteil for tlieir approval at the three winch will be conducted simultaneously at Inal t.me. It is a Yell known fact that an persons who are oppose il to a public eiitorpi.se aie tne uiies wno do not tad to vu.v, and to the rf.te'. proposition which is submitted at the special elcetion or any of the school propositions wouhi I'e nothing short of a public calamity, hence it is the duty ci all who favor these things to neglect to cast their votes.

The general city election which is Leing held this time will not in it self bring out the vote. There are four city councilman to be elected, and none of the four Democratic nominees is opposed, hence there will be no great political activity to result in a full vote here. The city sewer proposition, while it should be a maltci of great public interest, is not getting the attention which it should; nor is there any great discussion of the school issues, hence it behooves every one who is in favor cf public improvements and better schools to do what they can to see that those who ur? in favor of those matters register their sentiments, lest all be lost because of the failure of friends of the measure to so express themselves. The sewer proposition, regarding which these has been some lack of understanding on the part of the people, is explained fully in a special article printed in the Enterprise-C'curicr this week, signed by the mayor, city attorney, members of the sewer committee of the city council and the city engineer. Every voter should read this article, and if there is any one who is opposed to the proposition after so doing, they certainly can not be classed as public spirited and progressive.

We do not believe that there is any man or woman in Charleston who does not believe that better drainage is needed; we know absolutely that there is no practical method of bringing this about except in the manner that the city council has adopted and which is submitted to the voters for ratification in this election, and hence we arc convinc-t i that the measure deserves the support of every voter. If you are uninformed on the proposition, read the special article on another page, then go to the polls and vote for establishing In the school election, there are tax propositions to be decided. One of til' is to vole tlie same levy that bvn lixed heretofore for school purposes, and the other is to vote a lax, greatly decreased, for school building purposes. Both of -these measures should be adopted, and will receive the vote of all who believe in keeping the Charleston schools up to the high standard that has heretofore been our objective. The iucstions of whether or not the boundaries of the district should be changed, the selection of two directors and the voting of nine months school, instead of eight, are important, of course- Two good directors should be and doubtless will be elected, but in the absence of avowed candidates, it behooves the voters to agree upon these in advance and to pan the word around to others, so -that their election will he assured Wanted.
