T. J. Jackson, the wife of the famous Confederate general, died at her home here early today. She had been ill for many months and suffered a relapse yesterday. Mrs.

Jackson was born near Charlotte on July 21st, 1831. She was daughter of the Rev. Robert Hall Morrison, a Presbyterian ministe" and the founder of Davidson college. She attended the Salem, N. academy and college.

Her marriage too1 place in July. 1857. Jackson was then a major, serving as an instructor at the Virginia military instutute at Lexington. She became a close student of military tactics and always took a great interest in the fortunes of the Confederate army. General and Mrs.

Jackson had two children, both daughters. One died In infancy. The other married William K. Christian. She died in 1SSM.

Governor Blease appointed Leon Green a colonel. Gaffney Drug Company vertising. Now if the members of this association will resolve to boycott the article as well as refuse to advertise it they will strike a most effective blow. It begins to look like the merchants of Columbia are to enjoy a most prosperous business. They are soon to have the benefits of the expenditure of $3,000,000 for city and county Improvements. If Cherokee could issue about half a million dollars for road improvement and Gaffney about $100,000 for street improvement it would do more to bring about good times than anything we know of.

Every merchant doing business ii' Cherokee county would be benefited thereby and cur laborers would more work than they could do for couple of yeprs. You can't make us believe that a bond issue for improvements when properly ponded is not a good thing for any community. Cherokee's new county commissioners will be inducted into Monday week.
