Page 10A The Gaffney Ledger, Wednesday, August 1, 1973 AT FORT STEWART State Guardsmen Open OSD Test 2 Training During the first week of training, the Guardsmen will undergo remedial training for company-sized units, according to Brigadier General Joseph E. Brown Jr. of Ehrhardt, assistant division commander of the 30th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Army National Guard. In the final week, they will participate in brigade level exercises. A division has three brigades and each brigade has three or more battalions.

The brigade level training is part of the OSD Test and the Palmetto State Guardsmen will be joined by divisional units from North Headquarters for the Fourth Battalion is in Union and has elements of its three line companies and support company in Winnsboro, Whitmire, Chester, Lockhart, Jonesville, Pacolet Mills, Woodruff and Gaffney. Headquarters for the First Battalion is in Mullins and its component elements are in Myrtle Beach, Conway, Dillon and Marion. The 51st Military Police Battalion is headquartered in Florence and the 133rd Military Police Company is located in Timmonsville. The 132 Medical Company in Darlington is supplying medical support for the units. Carolina and Georgia in this phase of the training.

The objective of the OSD tests is to determine if the concept of relying on National Guard and Reserve is realistic. About 45 per cent of the nation's total defense capabilities are now vested in the National Guard and Reserve. MONDAY "CBS Morning New," 7-8 a.m. gets a new format 'and new faces. The anchor team consists now of Hughes Rudd and Sally Quinn. ABC's Monday night movie at 9 has "Maroc 7," with Gene Barry and Elsa Mar-tinelli in a Moroccan suspense story about a jewel theft plot (R). "ABC Wide World of Entertainment" at 11:30 is taken I'-HUH over for the week by Dick Cavett's talk program.

TUESDAY NBC's "Tuesday Night at the Movies" at 8 p.m. has 1967's "Operation Kid Brother," the tale of a plastic surgeon-hypnotist who prevents an international crime cartel from seizing half of the world's gold supply (R). ABC's "Tuesday Movie of the Week" at 8:30 screens "Pur- suit," with Ben Gaz-zara and E. G. Marshall in a suspense drama about a political extremist with a plan to destroy a major city (R).

"The New CBS Tuesday Night Movies" at 9:30 shows "Crime Club," with Lloyd Bridges in a detective drama about a fraternal organization of public and private investigators (R). NBC has a "First Tuesday" hour at 10. "The Sonny Cher Comedy Hour" on CBS at 8 p.m. has Jean Stapleton and Mike Connors as guests (R). Wednesday Mystery Movie" at 8:30 offers a "Madigan adventure in which Richard Widmark tries to prevent an old friend from committing murder (R).

ABC's "Wednesday Movie of the Week" at 8:30 screens "A Cold Night's Death" with Robert Culp and Eli Wallach in a suspense drama about two scientists confronting unknown perils (R). THURSDAY Helen Reddy's guests on NBC at 8 are Dick Gregory, Peter Allen, Mort Sahl, Billy Preston, Fanny and Albert Hammond. "The Waltons" on CBS at 8 has an episode in which the family cannot prove its claim to Walton's Mountain when a lumber company seizes it as unregistered land. "The CBS Thursday Night Movies has 1967's "Blow-Up," with David Hemmings and Vanessa Redgrave in the story of a photographer who thinks he has witnessed a murder (R). ABC at 10 has a one-hour doc umentary, "How to Stay Alive" dealing how to reduce the risk of heart disease (R).

FRIDAY "NBC Friday Night at the Movies" at 9 has 1968's "The Subject Was Roses," with Patricia Neal and Jack Albertson in a drama about a returned soldier-son finding his parents' marriage disintegrating (R). The CBS Friday night movie at 9 has 1969's "The Trouble With Girls," starring Elvis Presley as manager of a traveling tent show who runs into trouble in a small town (R). ABC's "The Corner Bar" at 9:30 offers "To Your Good Health." The male co-owner of the bar tries a crash diet to qualify for an insurance policy. J. and Eddie Outward i Bound" is a half-hour ABC special at 10 that deals with the physical training program at the Outward Bound school at Hurricane Island, Maine.
