Hartzog wound up on second and Posada1 came in to pinch hit for catcher Johnny Jones. Padres manager Don Zimmer retaliated by bringing in righthander Scharringhausen to replace southpaw Urn Tyler. It looked like a good move when Posasa Missed a curve ball, but it proved to be wasted effort after the Cocoa skipper lined a shot over shortstop to tie the game. The Astros, who banged out 20 hits in their last two games, scored the winning run in the 10th without benefit of a hit.

Jayson Moxcy started the 10th with a liner to scoreless deadlock. There were three misplayed balls in the game, and in all three cases the batter that hit the ball scored. Fortunately for the Astros they only misplayed one while the Padres misplayed two. Key West scored first when pitcher Bob OBrien reached second safely leading ofi the third after Bob French misjudged his high fly to right. One out later OBrian raced home on Don Sheppards single for the Padres only run of the game.

The Padres threatened again in the fourth and fifth, but some fine clutch pitching by Clint Burr, who graduated from Cocoa High School last June. A hit batter, a walk and a oouble steal put runners at second and third with no outs in the fourth, but Burr struck right (hat was dropped by Don Sheppard. Bob French followed with a sacrifice bunt, but Scharringhausen tried to get Moxcy at second and threw wide of the bag. Moxcy went on to third, and Dcrrel Thomas drew an intentional walk to load the bases. Jim Murphy hit a hard grounder to third, but Moxcy beat the throw to the plate and the game ended despite a loud protest by the Padres.

Little lefthander John Kryczkowski. who has been the Astros most effective pitcher thus far, hurled the final three frames and picked up the victory'. He faced only Tigers. In other games involving Southeastern Conference games, Georgia swept to a 3-1 victory over Georgia Tech and Florida State University did the same to Florida in non-SEC games. Mondays action left both Auburn and Kentucky with 5-7 records in the SECs" Eastern Division.

They'll meet again today. Georgias Bob Cannon limited Tech to just two hits, struck out eight Yellow 10 batters in the three innings he worked, striking out five and allowing only one harmless single. Burr was almost as effective, giving up only four singles and striking out five over the first seven innings. Following tonights game with Key West, the Astros will entertain Pompano Beach at Cocoa Stadium in a three-game set, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Orlando held onto its lead in the Florida State Leagues Central Division Monday as pitcher Ray Corbin led the Twins to a two-hit, 6-0 victory over the Tampa Tarpons.

Jackets and hurled scoreless ball the final five innings. Tech gained a 1-0 lead in the fourth but the Bulldogs countered in their half of that inning and picked up two more in the fifth. Georgia is now 11-10 and- Tech is 13-8. FSU's Jim Gurzynski led a fourth inning rally that produced two runs off Florida's ace lefthander Jim Courier. Gurzynski was forced home on a walk and Jeff Hogans infield grounder sent Walt Sumner across the plate.

Seminoles Edge Gators, 3-1 Auburn and Kentucky split a doubleheader Monday as Kentucky took the opener 4-2 and Auburn returned on a muddy field to blank the Wildcats 2-0. Wildcat pitcher Tom Bannon sparked the first game with a double, a homer and pitching that limited the Tigers to two runs on nine hits. Danny Littles five-hit pitching for Auburn and two-run homer by shortstop John Shafer put the second game in the bag for the Tribune Staff Photos by John Slick Corbin faced only 23 batters, walked none and struck out nine. Orlando collected 10 hits, including I doubles by Buddy Nelson and Bob Alexander. Breathing down Orlando's neck were the Winter Haven Red Sox, who capitalized on a three-run homer by Ken Valentine to beat the Daytona Beach Dodgers, 10-8.

The Red Sox remain a half-game out in second place. And last place St. Petersburg recorded its second straight to boost its win mark to 2-10 with a 2-0 victory over Lakeland. Cardinal pitcher Larry Rowlby struck out five and walked three. A steady downpour over South Florida rained out West Palm Beach at Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale at Miami.

The former major leaguer inserted himself in the lineup as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, Rick Hartzog on second and the Astros trailing, 1-0. Posada swung at and missed a sweeping curve ball from relief pitcher i 1 Schar-ringhausen then lined a fast ball to left to send the tying run home. The Astros took the cue from their manager and pushed across another run in the bottom of the 10th of a thrilling, 2-1, victory over the Key West Padres.

If all the fly balls that should have been caught had been caught the two teams might still be playing in a Determined Celtics Get Nod Tonight BOSTON (AP) The Boston Celtics, tested pressure cooker playoff veterans, rule a slight favorite to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers and square their best-of-7 series for the National Basketball Association championship tonight. The Celtics, bidding for their 11th NBA title in 13 years since player-Coach Bill Russell joined the team as a rookie, are determined to make their home court advantage stand up and even the series at two games apiece. After blowing leads and dropping the first two games in Los Angeles, the Celtics, blew a 17-point lead in the third period, but bounced back to win 111-105 Sunday on the hot shooting of John Havlicek and Larry Siegfried. No team has ever lost the first two games and come back to win the NBA championship. The Celtics, although opening up with a line-up of five players averaging 32 years of age, hope to come out running and keep running against Wilt Chamberlain Co.

Running is the key to our game," says Havlicek, the Boston captain who has scored 114 points in three games. Weve got to keep it up." The Lakers, who are seeking their first NBA title after winning the Western Division playoffs, had a 5-2 edge on Boston during the regular season. However, they are looking for a better defense to-stop the Celtics. Weve got to improve our defense, Los Angeles Coach Bill van Breda Kolff said. Thats the big thing.

Other than that, after playing 100-plus games, theres no sense changing things around now." Jerry West, the veteran sharp-shooter led the Lakers, Sunday with 24 points, compared with outputs of 53 and 41 in the first two games. We knew it wouldn't be a cakewalk here, West said in summing up the feelings of the Lakers. We knew the Celtics wouldnt quit They never have and never will. I'm looking forward another tremendously tough game." The fifth game is set for Thursday in Los Angeles. liuf FIRST BAME Five Pts.
