Science Gets Key to Heredity From Twins' Ancestry Key to Rest of Us Is Being hound in Publication of Books Columbus. Are yot a win? If so. youTe in Uu news today. More and more of the 1.5 million Americans born in pairs are getting into headlines. They are joining organizations which get national attention.

They are being studied by scientists. They are being written about in books, they have become models, and they have become models, and and they are making sports history. In Chicago. Columbus. Newark, and other cities twins have been forming social clubs and have been holding international conventions.

Aid Study Of Heredity Every time twins gather, you'll find a scientist measuring and questioning. Dr. David C. Rue of Ohio State university, a recognized twin authority, explains it "Scientists have come to recognize that the study of twins is one of our most valuable tools in seeking to the interplay of heredity and environment in bringing about human variation." Rife, an entomologist and zoologist, has recorded data on mote than 600 pairs of twins and has written many papers on the subject. Science has exploded many popular fables about the multiple They're Smart As Anyone the most popular belief about twins is that they are not as smart or as healthy as born, or that one of the twins has all the brains, the other one few," Dr.

Rife said. "There isn't any evidence that twins aren't just as intellectually capable as singleborn, or that they aren't just as healthy." Twins laugh at this superstition, and point to the record: Sen. 3ricker has a twin sister, Mrs. Ella Mooney. and Gloria O'Connor are Veterans of New York modeling at 19.

The University of Iowa had Hal and Herb Shoener at opposite ends of its football line last season, and Dave and Dale Bonnie turned a similar stunt at Ohio State university. Some Twins Aren't Twins Some facts about twins are known generally. For instance, there are two types of twins-identical and fraternal. What makes them that way and what it means is not so well known. Identical twins are individuals who originated from the same fertilized egg cell; fraternal twins arise from two different eggs fertilized by different sperms.

As a matter of fact, "fraternal twins actually aren't twins at all," according to Dr. Rife. "They are just brothers or sisters born at the same time." Identical twins will be of the same sex. same blood groups, have the same pigmentation, similar features and shapes. If one is color blind, the other is taoo.

They Cling To Similarity Rife observed that identical twins show a surprising tendency to remain similar despite different lives and education. Identical twins who have lived apart most of their adult lives may even have the same creases in their shoes. After all his studies. Dr. Rife still hasn't met his "twin I still looking for a pair of joenucai twins who married iden tical twins and had children," he WILL DOLLARS SAVE THE WORLD? Evar Swanson African Cobra Has Perfect Aim; Your Death Is Assured One of the most interesting exhibits in the reptile section of the Bronx zoo in New York is a five and a half foot killer with a perfect aim the spitting cobra from This reptile, received about four months ago, was wild and argumentative when he first arrived, and, though Brayton Eddy, curator of reptiles and insects, says it has now become somewhat resigned to peering human beings, it will still spit out at its visitors on slight provocation. This cobra, has a double method of attack. First it spits venom at the eye of its victim and the aim is very good, as witnessed by the blobs which appear on the glass of his cage.

If a tall person is there the blobs are at his eye level; if a child visits they are much lower. Though the venom is not harmful to the unbroken skin, it causes excruciating pain and temporary blindness when it hits the eye. The reptile then strikes, injecting- venom hypoderinically with its fangs. Death can be caused in six hours, though an entivenine made in Brazil is available.
