The decision to discontinue operations of Empac came aft er an unsuccessful attempt to sell the unit to the Buehler Corp.

of Indianapolis, Ind. The sale did not go through because agreement of the prime contractors of Empac could not be obtained. When it was determined that the operation could not be sold and could not be operated pro fitably, Borg-Warner officials made the decision to end it. Existing contracts are to be completed, and it is estimated that work will be concluded sometime in March, 1971. A company spokesman said today that the hourly and sala ried work force of Empac has been cut by one-half, bringing to about 100 the number of persons still working on the nuclear operations products line.

Attempts are being made to find employment with other divisions of Borg-Warner and other employers for persons leaving Empac. Representatives of other Borg-Warner divisions are re viewing the qualifications of Empac workers at this tune. Some former Empac employes have found work with other Decatur firms. Others have found jobs with firms in other areas, the company spokesman said. The unit was organized under a plan which enabled Marvel-Schebler to expand into the nuclear products, electrical and mechanical fields.

LAW For Today Q. Three years ago my husband and I bad our wills drawn up by an attorney. Now that our son is 18 years old we would like to make him executor. Will our wills be legal if we copy the first wills, name our son executor, and then have two new witnesses sign them? I plan to purchase legal size paper and do the typing myself. A.

A person is free to draft his own will, although to do so without knowledge of the law concerning probate and estates is not advisable. For example, a person who is named as executor in a will, in order to act in that capacity, must be an adult. A male is not an adult until he reaches his 21st birthdate (a female reaches her majority at age 18).
