Suncoast Conference Coach Phil Farinella's troops clinched their fourth conference title in five yean with an 1841 triumph Friday over the Boca Raton Bobcats The result left the Cobras 50 in league games with only another home game at Lawn wood next Friday against Martin County on the SC schedule Also remaining are non-conference games at Merritt Island and Vero-Beach Duncan slanted off tackle for the TD on the third play of the second period Steven Shepard's conversion kick was wide but the Cobras got a second chance when the Bobcats jumped offsides However Bellamy's conversion pass also failed as did the two later attempts for two-point plays Willie Flowers intercepted a Bellamy pass on the Boca 27 to ignite a Bobcat surge Quarterback Mitchell teamed with halfback Fred Gaines on a five-yard pass play and with fullback Greg Wentworth on a 26-yarder to keep the drive alive yards passing Indicating the defensive battle going on for the first 24 minutes of play was the fact that Fort Pierce made only 36 yards rushing and 38 passing However the second half was all Fort Pierce MitcheU was chased so hard he failed to complete a pass in the second two quarters Boca was stopped on
