FEDERAL STATUTES MAY BLOCK STATE INQUIRY Finding his jurisdiction limited, State's Attorney Hoyne has abandoned his plan to quiz the federal steamboat inspection service on Lake Michigan. This means the public will probably have to depend upon Sec'y Red-field's semi-civilian investigation committee to conduct a fair and thorough investigation. Hoyne may also turn over some angles of the prosecution to the federal court. If conspiracy is charged, the place of conspiracy claimed will probably be South Haven. This would give Michigan jurisdiction over a criminal trial unless the case was shifted into federal cburt.
