Accra will remain far several days, visiting friends, Fa.thqrJWUijle"and his wife returned Tuesday from Arkansas, where they have -been spending the summer with tbeirson William. ym-ioi, It may a Tola has a i Euuoimaments I hereby nnnounee myself an an Independent eanilidnte for Trejsurcr or Allen county. We are authirlt) to announce the name of II. T. Dickson as an Indcpcn lent cindtdalc for JurtKe oftho J-crcutu Judicial iJisinci.

THE TICKET. We raise to-day the Republican ticket, with the exception of the nominee for sheriff, W. M. Mattocks. In substituting the name of David Worst, who has conseuted at the urgent request of Republicans from all parts of the county to become an independent candidate, we have just this to say.

Every one who knows the Registeii or its editors, knows that we have been first, last and all the time favor of the re-election of David Worst. We opposed from first to last uny plan ifcat would tend to defeat him, and declared emphatically and uncondition ally that would not support Mr, Mattocks. Even aside from the meth od of his nomination, we could notcon- scientiouslysupnort him. Those who know Mr. Mattocks, say that ns a man nothing can be said against him, and Jt is not on any personal grounds that we oppose him.

The Register can-, not support any member of the leagi for the office of sheriff. Believing we do that the success of the leagu cause would work injuatjeo nine times where it would work justice once, and that it would mean absolute bankruptcy to the county as a whole, we cannot give our support to a man hose election wouli be construed as as endorsement of that cause by thepvople of the "county. It may be asked, with what belter grace does Mr. Worst appear as an independent candidate, than any other of the defeated men Was he not defeated by the 6ame means that defeated Stover, and perhaps Warner? Rut the difference is plain. While here was very wclj defined opposition to both Mr.

Stover and Mr. Warner, while it was a very close question as to whether or not they were the choice of the people, and while 'they both expected, and had opportunity tojircpare for a fight, there is no doubt in the world that Mr. Worst was the choice of the vast majority of the Republicans of the county, and he had, moreover, no expectation of opposition or cjjauce jk guard against it. This far, then, we feel justified in bolting the ticket. As totherestof the ticket, altbough we can say honestly, that except in the case of Recoider, there is not a man Jhatwas our first choice personally, yet aside from the dissatisfaction arising out of the methods of the convention, they are firgt-class men, and really constitute one ot the best tickets ever put before the people of the county.

We believe too, as far as appears, they represent the first choice of the people. How the question arises, what shall we jdo'aboutit? We are not defending the rnetcods of their nomination, although bo far as our political experience goes are as much a part of politics as are primaries and conventions, and it is more the fault of the -system than of this particular instance. The men are before us. and they are good men. Will we spite any one but "6urselve3 lu 'allowing tkenj to be defeated? In taking tlie ground we do, we are jwell aware that in the present heated condition of affairs, we are running! lOI.ACHECKER FLAVOR.
