R.V. was born on January 06, 1948 in Brownsville, Tennessee, the son of Roosevelt Bass and Helen Currie Bass. After graduating in R.V. Bass 1966 from Carver High School in Brownsville, TN, he enlisted ARMY in the United States Army and was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He served in the Army Reserves for more than 20 years and he loved to work on foreign automobiles. On December 28, 1968, he united in Holy Matrimony to Lue E. Bass and to this union, two children were born. He worked as a millwright at Mueller Company. He leaves to cherish fond memories, two sons, Tracy Bass and Korey Bass both of Decatur; three brothers, L.V.

Bass, Willie Bass and Colliga Bass all of Decatur; one sister, Dorothy Bass of Decatur; five grandchildren, Timothy, Tylin, Kaprice, Kamron and Kha-Liyah; special cousins, Patricia Currie, Russell Currie, Roderick Currie and Sheila Bennett; special friend, John Hess (Cookie), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Services will be 12:00 Noon Saturday, July 5, 2008 in New Salem Baptist Church, 1445 N. Edward St. with Pastor Tyrone Oldham officiating.
