PLEASANT Fred Benjamin Pleasant, 58, of Matton died 7:10 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 30, 1977) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Mitchell-Jer-dan Funeral Home, Mattoon, with visitation 7 to 9 p.m.

Pleasant. He was a World War II veteran and member of Mattoon Moose Lodge 803 and Lawrence Riddle American Legion Post 88. He was a professional photographer for almost 45 years and owned the Pleasant Studio in Mattoon. He married Lois Evelyn Lewis in 1944. Surviving are his wife; son, Fred B.

Wednesday. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery. Mrs. Hill was born in Macon County, daughter of Silas Richard and Nancy Diana Dowdell. She was employed at the Illiop-olis defense plant curing World War II and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, Sto-nington.

She married John Hartman, who died in 1914. She then married John James Hill, who died in 1956. Surviving are sons, Harold Hartman; Marion Hill of Mount Auburn; John H. Hill of Rochester; daughters, Mrs. Anna Hill of Chicago; Mrs.

Elizabeth Milligan of Mount Auburn; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grand-children; 1 great-greatgrandchild. Two sons, one daughter, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. JARRELL David A. Jarrell, 85, of Mar ticello died 5:10 a.m. Tuesday (Aug.

30, 1977) in the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monti-cello. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Monti-cello Cemetery. Mackey Funeral Home is in charge. No visitation.

Memorials: Piatt County Nursing Home. Mr. Jarrell was bom in Petersburg, son of Whitney and Melissa Jarrell. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. He married Laura Miller in 1910.

She died in 1934. He then married Mary C. Burton in 1936. She died in 1964. Surviving are sons, Leonard of Fortville, D.

Showers and thiundershowers, some spawned by the hurricane, upgraded from a tropical storm, were scattered throughout the nation's midsection," from the lower Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico and extending as far east as New England. Rain also was scattered from central Montana into the northern intermountain region.

A tornado was sighted near Great Falls, Mont, at midday but it caused no significant damage or injuries. Temperatures around the nation ranged from 43 degrees at Lewistown, Mont, to 102 degrees at Needles, Calif. Arrangements are by Cardascio Funeral Home, Clay City. Memorials: Clay County Mental Health Association. Mrs. Sona was born in Clay County, daughter of Ober and Olive Fields. She was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star, Sullivan.

Surviving are a son, Jack of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, Robert Fields of East Gary, sisters, Mrs. Erma Wei-ter, Mrs. Eithel Levitt and Mrs. Erba Schnautz, all of Clay City; Mrs. Faun Tanner of Olney; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Vance was born in Crawford County, daughter of James Henry and Mary Catherine Snider. She was a member of the Christian Church and was a retired Sunday School teacher. She married Ray Ga-ley, who died in 1932. She married Al Vance in 1935.

He died in 1967. Surviving are a brother, John Snider of Casey; stepdaughter, Mrs. Tilla Dillman of Oblong; stepson, Donald Vance of Winchester, several step-grandchildren. WINKLER Alvin W. Winkler, 66, of Paris died 11:30 a.m.
