Saturday. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery. Mrs. Kessinger was born in Wessing-ton, S.D., daughter of David and Carolyn Best. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Nokomis and Royal Neighbors.

She married Roy Kessinger in 1912. He died in 1966. Surviving are son, Dave of Sullivan; daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Margaret) Hubbard of Stonybrook, N.Y.; brother, Henry Best of Indianapolis, sister, Mrs. P.M.

(Gladys) Perkinson of Kirk-wood, three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. One sister and two brothers preceded her in death. Licster Hobart W. Licster, 81, of Monticello died 10 p.m. Wednesday (March 8, 1978) in Kirby Hospital, Monticello.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Bement Cemetery. Family visitation will be one hour before service time Saturday at Mackey Funeral Home, Monticello. Mr. Licster was born in Shelby County, son of William and Betty May Licster.

He was a hotel owner in Mattoon and was a member of Mattoon Masonic Lodge and Bloomington Consistory. He was a veteran of World War I. He married Norma Allen in 1922. Surviving are his wife; daughter. Mrs.

William (Barbara) Palmer of Monticello; brothers. George of Warren, Chet of Shelbyville; four grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Minear Mrs. Vernon (Floy Marie Starwalt) Minear, 72.

of Mattoon. died 5:12 p.m. Tuesday (March 7. 1978) in Hilltop Nursing Home, Charleston. Funeral services will be 2 p.m.

Monday in Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, Mattoon, with visitation after 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. memorial services by Women of the Moose. Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon. She was born in Toledo: daughter of George and Laura Taylor Starwalt.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, Women of the Moose and Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. She married Vernon Minear in 1921. Surviving are her husband; brother, Ferma Starwalt of Robinson; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. One daughter, two brothers and one sister preceded in death. Shope Miles W.

Shope. 88. of Newton died 7 a.m. Thursday (March 8, 1978) in Olney Care Center. Funeral services will be 9 a.m.

Saturday in Buchanan Funeral Home. Newton, with visitation from 6 to 8 D.m. Friday. Burial will be in Kibler Cemetery, near Newton. Mr.

Shope was born in Cumberland County, son of John and Mary King Shope. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He married Bernice Ramey, who preceded him in death. Surviving are sons, Edward of Sandwich; Clarence of Allentown, Richer of Ottawa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Smith Mrs.

T. Casper (Mary Martin) Smith, 87, of Hammond died 2:45 p.m. Wednesday (March 8, 1978) in her home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Hammond United Methodist Church.

No visitation. Born Funeral Home, Atwood, is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Turner Cemetery, near Lovington. Memorials: Hammond United Methodist Church. Mrs.

Smith was born in Piatt County, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Martin. She was a member of Hammond United Methodist Church and Lowe Township Home Extension. She married T. Casper Smith in 1917, He died in 1960. Surviving are son, James T.

of Hammond; three grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Thompson J. Floyd Thompson, 76, of Mattoon died 3:10 p.m. Thursday (March 9, 1978) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Coles County. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Schilling's Funeral Home, Mattoon, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon.

Mr. Thompson was born in Effingham, son of Jesse and Elizabeth Thompson. He was retired from Clark's Foundry and Mattoon Sand Gravel. He married Frances Gatewood. Surviving are his wife; son, Jim of Montrose; daughters.

Mrs. Ed (Jean) Lexsa of Mattoon; Mrs. Harold (Norma) Wallace of Florida; Mrs. Jim (Linda) English of Texas; brothers, Royal of Mattoon; Donald of Sullivan: Albert and Arthur, both of Mattoon; sister. Mrs.

Marie Royce of St. Louis, 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Whittaker Mrs. Sidney (Bernice McMahon Whittaker, 75, of Witt died 5:20 a.m. Thursday (March 9, 1978) in Hawthorne Lodge.

Hillsboro. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home. Witt, with visitation 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Burial will be in Witt Cemetery. Mrs. Whittaker was born in Witt, daughter of John and Belle McMahon. She was a member of the Witt United Methodist Church, the Witt Pocahontas Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary-She married Sidney Whittaker in 1920. He died in 1955.
