area schools needing a freshman game should contact coach David Wayland at 922-8545 (school) or 922-7615 (home) the hardest one be okay After the first time it hurt and all the scared feelings went Ingram missed more than just a season of football in 1980 He missed graduating with his friends the classmates who had shared so much in four years wanted to go out with the guys who were seniors he said sort of funny About a week before I was hurt my roommate (Chris Bolton) and I were talking about graduating together and what would happen if one of us got hurt and stayed another year Then it happened to departure was the first in a long line of unfortunate happenings at defensive end Mike Cofer went down against Georgia Tech Charles Morgan quit after the Alabama game What remained were an assortment of walk-ons and inexperienced players For John Julies then in his first year as full-time defensive end coach it was a nightmare are certainly in a better position this time than last year" said Julies referring to return and senior Lemont Holt arrival counting on them for a lot of leadership It will be nice to have them Although Ingram and Jeffers the only two current senior defensive starter will make end one of the strongest positions the problems are not over Depth is still a concern Tony Simmons switched from tackle in spring but was red-shirt-ed last year Mike Terry Johnny McAdams and Bret Aitchison have little if any experience Some backup help may come from freshmen like Rodney Coates who had originally signed with Villanova before that school dropped football Because he would have been a senior last year Ingram 22 says his role really changed that much He still must be a leader Toward that end he spent the summer pounding himself into the best shape possible stayed on that neck machine every day" he said I did a lot of shoulder work to build up the muscles around my neck My entire body strength improved up to 235 which is a little ironic because when I was a freshman I played tackle at 195 and now 40 pounds heavier and an end was tough being out last year but worked hard Now ready to TIM RUMSEY was moved to first-team guard ahead of incumbent Dwight
