Swank, 81, of Shelbyville, formerly of Sullivan, died Thursday (Jan. 7, 1999). Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Howe Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with visitation one hour before services.

Burial will be in French Cemetery, Allenville. Surviving are her son, Kenneth Swank of Illinois City; brother, Tom Fleshner of Shelbyville; sisters, Charlotte Hellman and Freda Bridges, both of Mattoon; Marie Hood of Sullivan; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. 23, 1939. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1993. Brown, 61, of Decatur, died 4:28 a.m. Friday (Jan. 8, 1999) in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Services will be 10 a.m.

Memorials: Shriners Hospitals for Children. Mr. Brown was born in Moweaqua, the son of Lewis V. and Marjorie K. Dobson Brown.

He was the owner and operator of Brown Appraisal Services which he started in 1990. He was a member of the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers and also held a real estate broker's license, along with being a member of the Decatur Association of Realtors. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge 979, Valley of Springfield Consistory, Ansar Temple, Springfield, Decatur Shrine Club, Buick Club of America, Chevrolet Club of America, one of the co-founders of the Decatur Ansar Eagles-Cushman Unit and a former member of the Decatur Oriental Band. Mr. Brown served in the Army during the Korean conflict.

Bob had a passion for old cars, especially his 1957 Chevy. His most cherished treasures on earth were his grandsons, Jordan and Logan. He married Anna Jordan in Assumption on Oct. 15, 1957. Surviving are his wife; daughter, Andrea Long and husband Alan of Decatur; son, Mark L.

Brown of Decatur; grandchildren, Jordan Brown, 5, and Logan Long, four stepgrandchildren; sisters, Jane Tankersley and husband Jack of Gibson City; Helen Baker and husband David of Normal. He married Teresa "Terri" Finck on Nov. 18, 1973. Surviving are his daughter, Dorothy "Betty" Geist of Bridgeton, grandchildren, Carol (Terry) Ross of Warren-ton, Dirk Geist of New Orleans, great-granddaughter, Jacquelyn Ross. He was preceded in death by his wife and sister, Marion Miller. Bayes OAKLAND Billy L. Bayes, 72, of Redmon passed away Thursday evening (Jan. 7, 1999) in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Taber Funeral Home, Oakland, with the Rev. Frank Jones officiating. Visitation was held Saturday evening. Burial will be in Shields Cemetery, southeast of Oakland.

Mr. Bayes was born on Feb. 18, 1926, in rural Ashmore, the son of Lester A. and Doris Mae Waters Bayes. He was employed for 36 years at Illinois Cereal Mill in Paris and was an Army veteran of World War II.

He married Evelyn Kirkley in Ashmore in 1949. She preceded him in death in 1996. Surviving are his sons, Larry Bayes of Oakland; Bill Bayes of Redmon; Terry Bayes of Charleston; daughter, Mrs. Shawn (Sheila) Walton of Redmon; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Bayes of Findlay; sister, Mrs. Robert (Peggy) Clapp of Oakland.

Mrs. Griffin was born on Jan. 26, 1911, in Creek Township, DeWitt County, the daughter of Lawrence and Jessie Carlock Howard. She was affiliated with Clinton United Methodist Church, was a member of Tri-C Class and a Sunday school teacher at the church. She was a member of Methodist Women, HCEA and DeWitt County Farm Bureau.

She married Oren Hartsock on Feb. 6, 1929, in DeWitt County. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1957. She married Dale McCulley on Dec.

14, 1963, in Clinton. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1975. She married Samuel R. Griffin on Jan. 5, 1977, in Clinton.

Surviving are her husband, Samuel; daughter, Ramona (Rodney) Stroh of Clinton; stepdaughters, Donna Arnold of Clinton; Phyllis Burns of Chula Vista, Geraldine Hammel of Decatur; stepson, Harold McCulley of Decatur; four grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 15 great-stepgrandchildren; two great-great-stepgrandchildren.
