KAUPMAN wkmm-Myers FURS Only Fur Stytist" The mother of convicted killer Stuart Heaton hopes TV's "Unsolved Mysteries" will clear her son's name. The NBC series airing at 7 tonight profiles the case of Heaton, a Ramsey man found guilty in 1991 of the murder of a 16-year-old girl. Krystal Lynn Naab bled to death after being stabbed 81 times with a pair of sewing scissors.

"I mink the name of the show explains how I feel," Do vie Heat-on-Bergin said in a phone interview. A crew from the NBC series spent time in Ramsey on Nov. 21, including a re-creation of the murder. "We're going to prove he's innocent, and this is one of many steps in that direction," Bergin said. Earlier this year, Heaton unsuccessfully appealed his conviction.

Lawyers said the DNA test was improperly performed and overstated the probability that a spot of semen on the victim's body was that of Heaton's. "I'm very confident," Bergin said. "I've never felt for a moment he would not be free. I know my son, and I never had any doubt at all." Bergin was interviewed by the "Unsolved" crew. So was Heaton's wife.

In his second trip to Nashville, after winning a statewide talent contest in Florida, he met Mel Tillis. From age 15 through the end of high school, Mowrey toured with Tillis during school vacations.

He was signed to a record contract soon after graduating. He's not discouraged about early setbacks in his career. Part of that change is writing more songs, he said. "Songwriting is really giving me a new start as I realize who I am," he said. Mowrey, making his fourth trip to Taylorville, said the change was not because of lackluster sales of his first two albums. 25 TO a "Living Christmas Tree" musical drama DpartrnertiN. 1 pre-adoles-cent obsession in America? Credit or blame Haim Sa-ban. It was Saban, originally a music promoter in Israel, who thought up the idea of taking action sequences from the Japanese show, dubbing them with English (the Rangers wear masks; you can't see their lips), and interweaving the fights with new footage filmed in the United States with American actors. He tried to sell the idea to the networks for eight years, but perhaps they were blinded by visions of Godzilla they said no. In the end, it took a former president of Marvel Comics Margaret Loesch, head of children's programming for Fox to see the possibilities. In Central Illinois, "Power Rangers" airs at 4:30 p.m.

weekdays. And what exactly is "Power Rangers" about? The Power Rangers are involved in an age-old battle between the forces of good, led by Zordon, and the powers of evil, led by Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd. Zordon enlists six California teenagers through his robot, Alpha he trains them and gives them fighting machines modeled after dinosaurs. When called upon to save the Earth, these teens use their Power Coins to "morph" metamorphose into the familiar monochrome costumes and kick butt.
