The NBC series airing at 7 tonight profiles the case of Heaton, a Ramsey man found guilty in 1991 of the murder of a 16-year-old girl. Krystal Lynn Naab bled to death after being stabbed 81 times with a pair of sewing scissors.

"We're going to prove he's innocent, and this is one of many steps in that direction," Bergin said. Earlier this year, Heaton unsuccessfully appealed his conviction.

Lawyers said the DNA test was improperly performed and overstated the probability that a spot of semen on the victim's body was that of Heaton's. "I'm very confident," Bergin said.
