ME MOINJE8J AMONA. IOWA. WBDNE8DAY, MAA 4, MjjjjL A RELIC OF EARLY DAYS tContinr-eci :rom Fourth page.] left In great haste—some even leaving their stock tied and penned up without food. After this scare the settlers began to lose faith in Indian stories, anc returned to their homes. When the condition of the streams and sloughs would permit travel we found there were no Indians in the country, those Committing the massacre at Spirit Lake having fled to the westward. The stockade remained as built several years, and was finally pulled down and used for road plank/' Death of JnmcB Brndshaw. The funeral exercises of James Bradshaw, whose illness was noted last week, were held at Dr. Barr's home Monday afternoon at 1 :30 o'clock, many friends of the family gathering to express their sympathy. Rev. Flanigan preached the funeral sermon, and appropriate songs were rendered by Mrs. Black, Mrs. Flanigan, Prof. Chaffee, and Geo. E. Hamilton. Mr. Bradsbaw was born in ]81U. and came to this country while a young man. He lived in Mexico for many years, but in later life lived in the western states. He has been with his daughter, Mrs. Barr, for many years, Mrs. Bradshaw dying; here seven years ago and being buried in the Algona c--ra«tery. He made many friends among ulf who knew him here, and while his death came as the natural and expected end of a long and happy life, all feel the inevitable regret that death inspires. His children were with him in his lust hours, which were •peaceful. Half Hates to Omaha.
