She was a great cook and especially known for her pies. She also enjoyed gardening. She married John L. Ballinger Sr. in 1946 in Decatur.

He preceded her in death Nov. 12, 2001. Surviving are her sons, Dennis D. Ballinger Sr. and wife Cathy of Decatur; John L.

Ballinger Jr. and wife Wendie of Oreana; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Mark Ballinger; Dennis Ballinger Jr. and fiancee Jennifer Stubblefield; Mike Ballinger and wife Molly; brothers, Leslie, Russell and Wayne Goodwin, all of Mount Zion. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mary Bartello; infant brother, Billy. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Norma Hartman Norma was born March 22, 1932, in Decatur, the daughter of Charles W. and Bertha Mae Owens Shafer. She was a housewife She married Herman Hartman in October 1957. He preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1982.

Surviving are her daughters, Vicky Cole, Patty Brant, Judy Rutherford (Tom) and Bertha Baker, all of Decatur; brothers, Jack Shafer (Mary) of Wapella; Dale Shafer (Betty) of Mount Vernon, Ohio; sister, Mary Beck (Gene) of Decatur; eight grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Karen Olsen; two grandsons; four brothers; and one sister. Jarrett DECATUR Roscoe Jarrett 57, Decatur, died Thursday (March 20, 2003). Monday-Friday Ty Monday in Dawson Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home, with visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Maxine Tefft Miss Tefft was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Decatur, the daughter of James R. and Goldie Irene Phillips Tefft.

She worked at Armour Rath and Borg-Warn-er Corp. She was a member of Central Christian Church and ABWA Soya Chapter. She loved the Cubs, Illini and bowling. She was known and loved by many, many friends and relatives. Surviving is her sister, Dorothy Irene Tefft, and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Malcom J. Stough. The family of Miss Tefft would like to thank Dr. Velasco and Dr. Goetter for their care and concern, and a special thanks to Lincoln Manor North personnel for their wonderful, loving concern and care.

Tertocha DECATUR W. Dean Tertocha, 77, of Tucson, passed away March 10, 2003, in the Tucson Heart Hospital. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with military rites conducted by Macon County Honor Guard. Mr.

Tertocha was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Decatur, the son of Harry and Augusta Schle-sier Tertocha. He served in the armed forces during World War II in a tour of Japan. He was decorated and cited with a Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal. He was retired from the Department of the Navy as a bookkeeper.

Surviving are two nieces, three nephews and close friend and caregiver, Melvin Young of Tucson. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. 16, 1907, in Mason City, the son of John and Augusta Martens Houseworth. He was a retired electrician from IBEW Local 51 in Springfield. He married Rose Marie Pawinski on Dec. 5, 1930, in Oak Park. She preceded him in death Nov.

13, 1999. Surviving are his son, John Houseworth and wife Ruta of Decatur; daughter, Rosemarie Webber and husband Donald of Schererville, eight grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Jeffries DECATUR Earl O. "Jeff Jeffries, 82, Decatur, died Friday (March 21, 2003).

McGuire was born Oct. 17, 1913, in Hudson, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Cole "Happy" Hursh and Ruth Faith. She attended Maroa United Methodist Church. She was a retired schoolteacher, with 31 years of service in Macon County. She was a graduate of University of Illinois.

She married William Alfred McGuire on Sept. 14, 1940, in Maroa. He preceded her in death June 13, 1997. Surviving are her daughters, Susan (Haruo) Kusama of St. Louis, Melanie McGuire of Amarillo, Texas; son, Bill -(Carol) McGuire of Maroa; grandchildren, Karyn Kusama, Kristen Kusama, Allen McGuire and Maren McGuire; nephew, Dan Hursh of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin Kusama; one brother; one sister. Perring DECATUR Lenore E. Perring, 92, Afton, formerly of Decatur, died Friday (March 21, 2003).
