investigating committee asked the Legislature today to direct court action to revoke the charter of the Monteagle institution Sen Barton Dement of Murfreesboro chairman of the joint investigating committee introduced a joint resolution in the Senate instructing Atty Gen Albert Sloan of the Monteagle district to bring the action Demerit's action came as the committee's 16-page report was still being pul into final form The report recommends the charter-revocation action it was learned Improperly Filed The proceedings would be brought on two grounds that Highlander's charter was improperly filed in 1934 and that the corporation had no right to transfer school property to its director Myles Horton -It was understood that the report recommends no action eon cerning alleged subversive activities at the school and only cites what is called "competent circumstantial in that vein from witnesses The report insofar as alleged subversion is concerned leaves to Sloan to determine whether this "circumstantial is sufficient to warrant prosecution under state sedition laws it was learned Fact-Finding A committee source said the re port takes this line because the Gatlinburg Bypass Route situated The Highlander charter was filed in Fentress County where Highlander once considered establishing a school Report May Be Delayed The -committee also turned evidence that Horton a corporation president and Miss May Justus as secretary-treasurer 1957 deeded a parcel of school property to Horton for his personal use But both insisted in appearances before the five-member committee that the transfer only carried out the of a Highlander benefactor the late Dr Lillian Johnson It appeared that the committee report might be delayed in being presented to the Legislature Today is the deadline for its submission Final Draft Prepared IDLE TRUCKS Empty trucks parked by a Harlon County miner's home were a common sight yesterday as miners refused to work until a new contract is signed up in
