The Jaycees ar planning a Fall Festival lor; the afternoon and night All the rides, the fer-ris wheel, the merry-go-round, and rocket which have The criminal session of Pickens Superior Court, with Judge Marion Pope presiding, was concluded last Wednesday after two days and only two cases being presented to the Jury, Both cases heard by the juries were settled by not guilty verdict. While the number of cases presented to the Jury was cmaller than usual the business conducted by the court was even larger than usual Almost 120 casei were settled by please of guilty and almost $13,000 in fines was collected by the court -Driving Under the Influence accounted for almost half of the cases which were settled by pleas of guilty with over 50 cases being disposed of.

Other cases which were settled by guilty pleas were: a-bout a dozen cases tar laying drags; 1 ease for driving with a revoked license; 15 public drunks; 11 theft by taking; 4 burglaries; 8 selling dangerous drugs; 2 simple assaults; aggravated assault; end.l speeding In excess of 100 mile per hour. One charge of possession of illegal distillery equipment was disposed of by a plea of guHj ty. It was unusual that no th er cases Involving non-tax pala whiskey came before the court. Several cases for abandonment came before the court In every case the defendant wef ordered to support their fam illes or go to prison. In addition future support of their families, Judge Pope ordered that all payments made by Pickens County Welfare Department, because of their nop support must bo repaid to tha County by the defendants.

Tha Pickens High Dragons travel to North Hall Friday night to take on the Trojans. This will be the sixth game of the season end the Dragons will te trying to even their record at end s. Lut Friday night the Dragons played their best game of the year, especially on defense, however, the Dragons were defeated by Jefferson by a score of 12-0. Jefferson left Jasper with an undefeated record of 8-0 still intact and ranked No. 8 In Georgia.

They left feeling very lucky to get the win as the Dragons gave them all they wanted, turning point of the game was when the Dragons scared end it was called back. The Jefferson Dragons went on to score the deciding touchdown in the 4th quar ter. Dragon defensive unit of Charles Hooks, Vic Smith, Larry Keener, Greg Mullins, Ronald Hooks, Allen Bridget, Kevin Byers, Darrel Henson, Fred Anderson, Jerome Benson and Randy Eubanks did an outstanding job of gang tackling as they held Jefferson to the lowest score that they have scored this year. Tha Dragons offensive showed some spots of improvement as tha passing game, showed some life. Fred Anderson rushed for 51 yards which broke tha 4,000 yard marie In rushing.

Fred now' has 4,006 yards in his career. The Dragons' will return on October 20 for their final home game of 1972 and Homecoming against Lumpkin Co. Fall Fling A Success In Ball Ground m. T. McMurrain, Chairman of the Pickens County U. S. Savings Bonds Committee reports that the citizens of Pickens County placed 83,692 In Savings Bonds during August and a total of $58,674 for the eight month period, picken County has now surpassed its 1972 goal of 845,000 by 130. Marvin L.

Summers, State Director for Georgia, announced that Georgians continued their strong purchases by plac- ring 87,608,763 in Savings Bonds during August for a total of eastem Fair. rounds. The three, hoys who showed in this event wera, Ray Poole, son of and Mrs. Robert Poole; Jim Wlgington, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Bill Wlgington; and Mack Martin, son 'of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Martin. These boys placed as tallow in the gilt class Ray Poole placed lit and Jim Wlgington placed 2nd. In the Boar Class Mack Martin placed 2nd.

In Showmanship Ray Poole placed 4th. The FFA Chapter Is very pleased with the result of this show. On October 4th these boys went back to the fair grounds. Bay and Jerry Stanfield. The name of. the business has been changed to Jasper TV Center. The RCA line of TVs, radios, stereos, record players, auto tape players, etc. will continue to be featured.

The new owners are also qualified to make repairs on all TVs, etc. Mr. Loy Hammontrae has been named manager of the True Value Hardware Store at the new Gilmer Shopping Center. Mr. D.

J. Free haa been named assistant for persons engaged In ministry. It la authorized by the Board of Trustee! of Emory University, and requires three academic year beyond the undergraduate bachelors degree. Mr. Sorrow also was swarded the degree of Specialist ta Education from the University pf Georgia this past summer.

As a project for this degree, be wrot a paper on John Wesleys Concept of This ta the third year for Mr. Sorrow as pastor of the Tste-Ball Ground Charge, of the United Methodist Church.
