for dinner the conflict arises and the denouement isn't far off although some line comedic touches occur first And that is the thrust of the play It is an amiable entertainment perhaps a touch ahead of its time in 1936 that elicits gentle although genuine laughter rather than guffaws Daughter Penny (Jean Stapleton) took up playwriting one day when a typewriter was delivered to the house by mistake Her husband Paul (Eugene Roche) plays with toys like a child and manufactures fireworks Second daughter Essie (Beth Howland) studies ballet daily with the typical off-the-wall Russian (Kenneth
