Chilliwack and District Safety Council may meet its demise i if the public does not show more interest soon. "I'm not going to go to meetings and fiddle my time away if the public isn't interested," says council President Don Few.

Mr. Few took over as president of the council about a year ago when it was facing a similar crisis. At that time, the council had ceased to be very effective and meetings were poorly attended. A new council board was elected, the council's purpose was clarified and great strides were made. But now the council is foundering again.

Officers are not turning up regularly for meetings and the general public is showing no interest whatsoever. Mr. Few says he will approach the Chilliwack police to find out if they view the council as a worthwhile community organization. If they do not, he says, that Gong show Seabird Island Basic Training and Skills Development (BTSD) class is looking for contestants to take part in a gong show tomorrow (Thursday). The show will be held at Seabird Island Hall beginning at 7 p.m.

Admission is 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children 13 and under. Admission includes refreshments. There will be first, second, third and fourth door prizes. Anyone wishing to participate may call Bonnie at 796-2783. Wm.
