'A i "vr Extend Quilt Competition Closing date for the Centennial quilt making competition has been extended to June 30, by the women's activities sub-committee of the Provincial Centennial Committee. Entry forms for the cash prizes totalling $1,500, together with rules and score sheets are available on request from the local centennial committee. Rules call for an applique quilt, one on which the design is imposed and sewn on the hand-quilted quilt. The design is to be of a Centennial or historical theme relative to district, province of British Columbia, or Canada. Prizes will be awarded in 17 provincial districts.

Three winners from each district will be judged for the top awards of $500, $200 and $100 at the 1967 Pacific National Exhibition, Vancouver. The winning quilt will become the property of the Centennial committee and will be displayed in the Provincial Archives and Museum, Victoria. Alf Desaleux proposed the bridal toast at the reception in the Gai Paree, Vancouver. Mr. and Mrs. Buehler will have a delayed honeymoon in the summer at the conclusion of the groom's studies at UBC. Rotary Anns Plan Annual Luncheon Mrs.

F. K. Grimmett presided when 31 members of Chilliwack Rotary Anns met at the home of Mrs. Mills Clarke in Agassiz. Plans were made for their annual meeting and installation luncheon to be held April 4 at The Harrison Hotel.

Members of Rotary Ann Clubs in the Fraser Valley will be invited to attend together with the wives of Chilliwack Rotarians who do not at present belong to the Rotary Anns. Tea hostesses under the convenership of Mrs. Leo De-lisle were Mrs. Eric Brolin, Mrs. Harold Edmondson and Mrs.

Jack Barber. Rev. R. W. Bray officiated at the double ring ceremony in Chilliwack United Church -on March 4 when Lynda Ann Howe, RN, and Frank Edwin Dyck were united in marriage.

The bride is the elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howe and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dyck, all of Chilliwack.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length empire gown of bridal satin fashioned with a lace inset in the A-line skirt. A long lace train fell from the empire waistline. A pear-tipped satin rose held the chapel-length veil. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations. Miss Norma Blessin.

Ab-botsford, was maid of honor. Mrs. James Hodgins, Sardis, was bridesmatron and Miss Mardi Howe, the bride's sister, was junior bridesmaid. They were dressed alike in floor-length empire gowns of peau d'elegance in turquoise with headpieces en tone. Their elbow-length gloves were white and they carried yellow chrysanthemums.

Shelley Hettle was flower girl for her aunt wearing a floor-length gown of turquoise peau d'elegance with a lace bodice. She carried a Bursary Sponsored By Club 28 A knitted afghan made for the Canadian Red Cross by members of Dub 28 was on display when members met at the home of Mrs. Norman McLaren. Arrangements were made to sponsor a $100 bursary for a graduating student of Sardis Secondary School. Guest speakers for the evening were William Ferguson, chairman of the scholarship committee, and Walter Wilson, principal of Sardis Secondary SchooL Mrs.

Emil Gaudette thanked the speakers. Members collected old clothes and rags for occupational therapy use at Sunshine Drive School for handicapped children. Final arrangements were made for the club's annual curling night at the curling rink. Members, ex-members and their husbands will hold a friendly game followed by refreshments. Mrs.

Peggy Freeman was welcomed as a member. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Harold Hay, Mrs. Allan Edmondson, Mrs. Don Kickbush and Mrs.

Percy Chapman. Shop manager Mrs. E. W. Miller reminded members to look for newly purchased stock in the Hospital Gift Shop currently being displayed.

Mrs. R. M. Smith elaborated on associate memberships available to former members of the service league. These members will assist once or twice a month with the various services of the league.

Recent additions to the associate list are Mrs. Charles Gowen and Mrs. Bruce Cowie. Puppets, made by league members to be given to young patients at the hospital, will be stocked in the children's ward. They will be distributed at the nurse's discretion.

Members authorized the purchase of a bottle warmer for the children's ward. It is expected to cost the league some $300. Mrs. Bruce Grainger gave a report of the Provincial Council of Women's convention in Vancouver, touching briefly on such varied subjects as detention homes, the Estate Tax Act and LSD. She encouraged members to attend the annual meeting of the Local Council of Women on March 20 and the luncheon meeting on April 3.

Dr. George Turpin heard Maureen Claire Urquhart and Wayne Garth Buehler exchange marriage vows March 3 in Canadian Memorial Church, Vancouver.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hector B. Urquhart, Vancouver, and the groom, who is attending University of British Columbia, is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Waldo Buehler, Chilliwack. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a empire gown of chiffon over peau de soie with A-line skirt. Her train fell from the high waistline. A headpiece of lily of the valley held the shoulder length veil. She carried three white orchids with ivy.

Elizabeth Dewar was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Margo Urquhart and Mariko Van Campen. They wore BCMTA Has Successful Year Reports revealed a successful year when the Chilliwack branch of British Columbia Music Teachers' Association held its annual meeting in Miss Lucille Murphy's home with Miss Nan Densham presiding. Membership in BCMTA had increased; a student teachers' auxiliary was formed; 10 student recitals were held and support was given to Jeun-esses Musicales. The majority of branch teachers took refresher courses in Vancouver and Chilliwack.

Expressing the appreciation of the Chilliwack branch, Miss Densham presented Miss Agnes Rinas with a gift. Miss Rinas served as president of the local branch for seven years during which time she dedicated time and effort in improving teaching methods and standards of the group. Newly elected officers are E. F. J.

Schuss, president; and Miss Nan Densham, vice-president. Those continuing in office are Mrs. Oliver St. John, secretary, and Mrs. Wayne Dyck, treasurer.

Elected to the executive were Miss Lucille Murphy and Ken Higham. Miss Rinas will continue as representative to the prov.ncial council of music teachers. Centre Holds Successful Party David McRoberts was master of ceremonies when 19 tables of whist were in play at the Senior Recreation Centre. The card party was sponsored by the ladies' auxiliary to the centre. Prize winners were E.

Ber-reth, J. D. Muirhead, V. Barefoot and E. Currie.

Mrs. H. Adams won the door prize. Mrs. David McRoberts sold tickets on a cake won by Mrs.

G. Harris. Mrs. M. Sutherland was in charge of door receipts.

Mrs. I. C. Murray, assistant convener of the Centennial Ball being sponsored by Chilliwack Hospital Service League, says plans are going along well. The ball, being held May 26, is the major project of the service league for 1967.

All members are participating. Mrs. H. M. Bell is general convener assisted by Mrs.

Murray. Other conveners are Mrs. Ron Hiebert. decorating; Mrs J. A Dixon, tickets; Mrs.

J. L. Esler, publicity; Mrs R. M. Smith, ball secretary; Mrs.

F. Hallman, ball treasurer. Mrs. W. K.

N'elles and Mrs. R. S. Lansdell are in charge of table reservations with Mrs. G.

L. McGaw in charge of patrons. Proceeds of the event will go towards the purchase of a Cardiac Monitor, valued at more than $3,000, for the general hospital. It was reported announcements are being mailed throughout the valley and reservations may be made by telephoning 795-3845. At a league meeting Community Arts Council representative Mrs.

Waldo Fischer gave a brief sketch of the council's functions. She requested that the league undertake a window display in the "Showcase" which will be part of Centennial Week in May Mrs. Kurt de Boer and Mrs W. Edwards will look after arrangements. IF YOU DON'T BUY AT YOU'LL PAY TOO MUCH.
