Mrs. Smith, who suffered a broken leg in an automobile accident May 16, died in hospital May 23. Evidence produced at the inquest showed actual cause of death to have been from fat embolism, a condition in which tiny globules of fat act as blood clots. No date has as yet been set for an inquest into the death of R. G.

Municipalities are deeply concerned with the problems of pollution, he added, as resolutions coming out of the annual meeting of the Canadian Federation of Mayors and Municipalities showed. The meeting was held in Edmonton early in June, and presented a number of strongly worded recommendations to the federal government on the subject of pollution control.

McClellan rapped the conditions when, last Thursday, he sentenced one of two prisoners to further terms for escaping and kidnapping a guard. The two men Richard Lawrence Arial and Joe Mc-Kenna escaped by forcing guard Robert Wilson into Wilson's pickup truck for an 80-mile ride into Vancouver on December 18. Judge McClellan said he didn't question the value of a minimum security camp, "but this one seems to have gone too far." He did question, however, measures which could lead to "a convicted murderer (McKenna) could run around with a gun in his hand and do so at one in the morning." Arial was sentenced to one year for escaping and to two years for kidnapping Wilson. The one-year term will begin at the end of his current three-year term in November, 1969, while the two-year kidnapping sentence will run concurrent with his present term. McKenna was sentenced previously in another court to five years, which was tacked on to a life sentence.
