He was married to the former Jane Tartaglia August 27, 1949.

She survives along with a son, James Woodring, a student at Beckley College in Beckley, W. a daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Barresi of Oil City; five brothers, Richard Woodring of Las Vegas, Robert Woodring of Ridgecrest, Calvin Woodring of Santa Ana, Leslie Woodring of Phoenix, and Rexford Woodring of Warren; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Anderson of Oil City and Mrs. Hazel VanVoorhis of Benezette; two grandchildren, Suzanne and Sheri Ann; and several nieces and nephews.

Removal was made to the Charles A. Morrison Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today and where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral with the Rev. F. LeRoy Sarver, pastor of Good Hope Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

OIL CITY Dr. Ralph L. Woodring, 46, of 926 W. First optometrist with offices in the Sutton Building, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Oil City Hospital.

Dr. Woodring was taken ill at noon and admitted to the hospital. DR. R. L.

WOODRING Born at Benezette February 20, 1925, he was a son of Otto and Lola Crane Woodring. He attended Lock Haven College and the University of Pittsburgh and graduated in 1952 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He came to Oil City in 1956 to enter practice. A veteran of World War II, Dr. Woodring served in the U.S.

Crosby of Wheatland has been assigned as pastor of the new church. There have been no church facilities for blacks in Oil City since fire destroyed the old Brown Chapel on Stout Street in 19G6. Insurance money received for the fire loss was deposited in a bank account for the establishment of a new church. The Brown Chapel of the African Methodist Episcopal Church has a local history dating back to the Civil War era. In 1865 several persons met in O'Hara's opera house and were organized into a society by Rev.

During his pastorate the church underwent a $5,000 remodeling program. The exterior of the church was covered with brick veneer. The small congregation had some financial difficulties through the years. Finally the Rev. W.

H. Shaw, who served from 1935 to 1940, cleared the church of debt. In 1942 the church was repaired and redecorated. For many years the offering taken at the annual Community Thanksgiving Service here was donated to Brown Chapel. The fire which destroyed the church occurred late at night on Feb.

21, 1966. Four firemen were injured fighting the blaze in sub-freezing weather. The Rev. William McGowan was serving the church at that time. BARBARA ANDERTON Engagement announced The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Miss Barbara Lee Anderton to Steven Scott Lang of 113 Wyllis St.

Funeral De WAYNE MAN'ROSS Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Louis H. Osenider Funeral Home for DeWayne W. Manross, 59, of 136 Ridge an employe of the Pennsylvania Rubber and Supply Company. Mr.

Manross, a well-known local musician, died early Saturday in Franklin Hospital. Rev. Hugh Crocker, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Robert Hartz, Herbert Hollingsworth, Charles Witmer, Tony Garbacz, Howard Underwood and James Rogers.

Attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. David Rhoades of Edina, Mr. and Mrs. William Manross of Springfield, W.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Underwood and Maylou Underwood of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Harold Stevenson and Mr. and Mrs.

Beichner was graduated from the University of Southern Louisiana and attended the Florida Institute of Technology. She was employed as a junior high school science teacher. Mr. Beichner, a graduate of Clarion State College, attended the University of Notre Dame and the Florida Institute of Technology. A veteran of three years' service in the U.

W.W. Anderton, will display holiday decorations for both indoors and outdoors, unusual gifts, and toiletries. The popular freezer of main dish casseroles will feature dishes made from favorite recipes of the auxiliary members. Mrs. S.

A luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday will be a feature of the annual "Goodies for the Holidays" Bazaar scheduled by the Women's Auxiliary to the Oil City Hospital in the hospital annex. Served in the living room of the annex, the menu will offer a choice of sandwiches, salads, desserts and beverages. Mrs.

Arthur Murphy and Mrs. Wayne Blyler will be in charge of the luncheon. They will be assisted by Mrs. Steve Klos, Mrs. H.M.

John Wiese. John A. Golden OIL CITY John A. Comet, recipient of the Golden Deed award, last night in accepting the honor, offered a toast of gratitude to those who had received the same award in previous years. The annual dinner event, sponsored by the Exchange Club of Oil City, was held in the Holiday Inn.

Comet, president of United Kenneth E. Rennekamp 67, of 213 Greydon McKees Rocks, attorney and owner-president of Radio Station WKRZ in Oil City, died Tuesday in Ohio Valley General Hospital at McKees Rocks. Edward E. Jones Sr. OIL CITY Funeral services for Edward E.

Jones 52, of 307 W. Seventh local mail carrier, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Good Hope Lutheran Church. Mr. Jones, employed by the Oil City Post Office for 23 years, died early Tuesday in OU City Hospital.

The Rev. F. LeRoy Sarver, pastor of Good Hope Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Friends may call any time after 7 p.m.

Vernon L. Hewitt Vernon L. Hewitt, 83, of 533 Halyday Run Road, an iron worker for 55 years, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Oil City Hospital after an extended illness. He was admitted to the hospital Tuesday morning.

Born at Mill Run in Clearfield County February 13, 1888, he was a son of Charles E. and Annie Moran Hewitt. His wife, the former Hattie Walton, is deceased. Mr. Hewitt last worked at his trade 13 years ago and had lived in Oil City the past 10 years.

He is survived by a step -daughter, Mrs. Leathy McClasky of Bordentown, N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Flaherty and Mrs. Mabel Lynch of Oil City, and a brother, Wayne C. Hewitt of Pittsburgh.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with interment to follow in Grove Hill Cemetery. Mr. Rennekamp, well known in business circles in this area, owned a cottage at President and had owned the Oil City radio station for the past 25 years. He was a former solicitor of McKees Rocks Borough for 7 years and solicitor for First Federal Saving Loan at Mt.

Oliver for 27 years. Mr. Rennekamp also was a partner in two other radio stations, WTRA in Latrobe and WKBI in St. Marys. Born in McKees Rocks July 20, 1904, he was a son of Henry W.

and Hermione Carroll Rennekamp. He graduated from McKees Rocks High School, the University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Law School in 1934. He was a member of the Oil City Kiwanis Club and the Allegheny County Bar Association. He is survived by his wife, the former Olivia (Bobie) Breinig; a son, Kenneth E. Rennekamp Jr.

of Hunter Station, Tionesta; a daughter, Mrs. LaVerne Reynolds of the McKees Rocks area, and 7 grandchildren. Removal was made to the McDermott Funeral Home at 1225 Chartiers McKees Rocks, where friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today and Thursday and where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.

Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at McKees Rocks. Board member called truant BETHEL PARK, Pa. (UPI)-Jack W. Spreadbury, the vice-president of the school board of this Pittsburgh suburb, is under orders from the board president to appear at the next meeting and explain his truancy.

Spreadbury called the board president, George Armor, Monday night and said he would appear at the Dec. 6 meeting to explain why the other members had not seen him since July. The call came just hours before the board was to vote on a proposal to expel Spreadbury. Last week, the school board took out a legal advertisement in a local newspaper, announcing that Spreadbury's seat was about to be declared vacant. His telephone had been disconnected and mail was returned to the board with the notation "moved left no forwarding address," board members said.

Mrs. Ted Avery and Mrs. John Hadley will have charge of a booth displaying cards, stationery and wrapping. Mrs. Giles Cook and Mrs.

Robert Holmes will offer a variety of children's toys at their booth. Mrs. J. B. Johnston will assist them.

A small decorated Christmas tree, a topiary tree, a pine cone wreath, and a Delia Robbia type wreath will be raffled. This will be in charge of Mrs. Richard Meury and Mrs. Lee Hanna. Proceeds from this bazaar will aid the auxiliary in purchasing new equipment for the hospital.

Board states bank dividend OIL CITY The board of directors of Northwest Pennsylvania Bank Trust Co. announced a fourth quarter dividend of $.35 per share payable Dec. 15, to holders of record Dec. 1, 1971. Northwest has 18 offices serving 13 communities in Clarion, Crawford, Mercer and Venango counties.

Northwest's newest office in Franklin, has been open since Sept. 20, 1971. Library plans children's film A film for grade school children, "Elsa and Her Cubs," will be presented in the movie cellar of Oil City Library at 4 p.m. Thursday. The story features Elsa of "Born Free," who brings her cubs to the Adamson camp.

It tells the story of the development of the cubs until they are 15 months old. The film showing is free. Joseph P.Beichner weds in St. Joseph's Church Flare sale to benefit Hasson Heights School Natural Gas defined the award as "an expression of the city's appreciation to its many dedicated community workers." In his exceptance speech, Comet said he felt the award was more than a recognition of one individual's efforts. Robert D.

Harman, vice president of UNG and principal speaker, was introduced by Recommended by the National Safety Council and used by state highway patrols and local liw enforcement officers, the flares are emergency signals that enable stranded motorists to warn oncoming traffic. Safe, easy to store and use, each flare burns for 15 minutes with a bright penetrating red light. All proceeds will go to the Hasson Heights Home and School Club and will be used for the benefit of Hasson Heights School. The marriage of Beverly Jean Green and Joseph P. Beichner was solemnized at 11 a.m.

Saturday in St. Joseph's Church. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Marie Green of Lafayette, while Mr. Beichner is the son of Mrs.

J. W. Beichner of Oil City. The Rev. Robert Rarick officiated at the double-ring service amid a floral setting of chrysanthemums and pompons.

The bride was attired in a gown of white lace over organza and carried a bouquet of baby's breath and daisy pompons. Attendants for the couple were Mary Ellen Beichner, niece of the bridegroom, and James William Beichner, his brother. Usher was Bill Beichner, nephew of the A Flare With Every Spare is the slogan for the Hasson Heights Home and School Club's current fund raising project. Hasson Heights students from grades four, five and six will be selling safety flares. The sales will be conducted on a door-to-door basis today and Thursday.

There will also be students selling the flares in the downtown area from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday..
