The company rode in wagons from Cheyenne Agency to Arkansas City, a distance of 130 miles, and took the cars at that place for Topeka, where they are provided for by the fair association ho sent for them. It was the desire of the association to have almost double the number of wild Indians, and double the number started, but the report got out among them that it was only a trick to get them up here where they would be captured and sent to Carlisle Barracks in Pennsylvania, and almost half of the party returned. On their way up they recognized the country about Wichita, where they once held a treaty with the whites, and some rememherthe location of Topeki, where in former days they visited the Pot-tawatomies. Much interest is centered in the Pinneo-Curtis which will occuron Saturday. Miss Curtis arrived yesterday and will commence an active training this morning.

The fact that the plucky Kansas girl beat Miss Pinneo at Des Moines has given her friends new confidence and her backing is stronger thac ever. The competitive military drill at the state fair at Topeka, Kansas, for a prize of $1,000, takes place on Friday, at 10 a. m. A man by the name of Reed, claiming to be a United States marshal, several days ago arrested in this city a man by the name of Wright, and was going away on the 4:30 Sante Fe train, when Constable Larrabee appeared on the scene with a warrant for the arrest of the same. The mirshal aimed him as his prisoner and defied constable Larrabee to take him, at the same time demanding his authoriiy to act in the premises. Mr. Larrabee produced his warrant and then expressed a desire to see his (ihe U. S.

commission, which the latter refused to show unless the train could be held until he (the U. S. could go before a justice of the peace. That being impossible, and Mr. Larrabee demanding in any case, the United States marshal drew a revolver and said he would shoot the fir-it man who laid hands on the prisoner.

During the the pone which, the officers were fighting, had been gradually sliding away in the direction of the train, and when the parties litigant looked for him presto! he had vanished. Thereupon the United Slates marshal swore he would have Larrabee arretted for allowing the prisoner to escape, but changed his mind and went to Caldwell instead, where 'aterm the day he was followed by Constables Henderson and Larrabee, who after an exciting melee, arrested the gentleman and brought him to Wellington. Through the medium of labor saving achinery and a combination of labor the expense of harvesting theirgrain is brought to the lowest possible point. No expense is incurred for manuresof any sort. Even the straw produced is burnt as the most expeditious way of getting it out of the way. The only expense incurred is that of getting the seed in the ground, and in harvesting the product.
