Scenery--Mr. Joseph Fontonerosa. GOERING CAUGHT WITH KESSELRING BY SEVENTH ARMY (Continued from Page One) many. Hitler's SS Elite Guardsmen arrested him, Goering said, but members of his own Air Force rescued him. Kesselring had been commander in chief of Germany's Western Front since early March.

He was believed to have taken over from Marshal Karl von Rundstedt -now also in Allied hands -after the Germans suffered a series of disastrous reverses in the west. Gen, Jacob L. Devers' Sixth Army group headquarters relayed through S.H.A.E.F. the announcement that Lt. Gen.

Alexander M. Patch's Seventh Army had captured Goering and Kesselring. The first reports of Goering's capture gave 110 details of his melodramatic report that Hitler condemned him and he was rescued 1 by members of the Luftwaffe he commanded in its heyday. The whereabouts of Goering had been one of the major mysteries of the collapse of the Nazi Command in Germany. A few days before reporting that Adolf Hitler had been killed in battle, the German radio said Goering had been relieved of his Air Force command because of bad health.

Goering's was the first of Nazidom's "big three" names--Hitler, Goering and Goebbels--to be written off by the Germans in the closing phase of their resistance. Confirmation of their report that Hitler was killed in Berlin still is lacking. Goebels has been reported killed in Britain, but no official Allied announcement has been made. Goering's obesity and love of medals made him a favorite subject of caricaturists. He was an ace airman in the first World War and was credited with laying the foun- Three Brothers Die Within Three Months John J.

Earley, 644, native of Locust Gap, died yesterday at his home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Prominent railroad telegrapher, Earley was the third brother to die within the past five months. A brother, Francis, died on December 23 in Chicago, and another brother, James J. Earley, member of the Board of Supervisors of Mount Carmel Township, died on April 8 in Locust Gap. Earley, son of the late James and Eileen (Campbell) Earley, attended St.

Joseph's Parochial School at Locust Gap before he became telegrapher on the Reading Railroad in 1900. Earley moved from Locust Gap to Cedar Rapids thirty years ago. To survive, he leaves his wife, the former Anna McKearns, of Locust Dale; a son, Joseph, of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Helen, In Ireland the following brother and sisters: William Earley, Chicago; Mrs. John Quinn, Mrs. Otto Trefsgar and Mrs.

AMERICAN MIGHT SWINGS ON JAPS (Continued from Page One) ican leaders on V-E Day.

From the President down all responsible leaders emphasized that the war will not be over until Japan capitulates. War, Navy, and production officials echoed Mr. Truman's statement that "Our victory is only half-won." They adopted his theme of "Work, Work, Work." Mr. Truman hurled this psychological bolt at the enemy: "Unconditional surrender does not mean 1 the extermination or enslavement of the Japanese people." This could be construed only as an invitation to the Japanese to save themselves from the destruction visited upon Germany. In the process of redeployment the Army will release about 2,000,000 men.

The Air Forces, already shifting to the East, plan to make fuller use of the rotation system that it could when there were two fronts. The Navy will replace nonessential men 42 years old and over. But draft calls will not be reduced for the present, and the fighting forces do not intend to release a single man essential to the struggle against Japan. War Bonds and Stamps REGULAR!
