equal strength today when the football elevens of Yaic and West Point met in their twenty-fourth annual conest at the Yale bowl the game resulting in au indecisive seven-seven tie Eighty thousand saw the game Out-kicked by the powerful toe of Bill Y'ood and out-guessed at times by the Army generals Yale managed to keep the final score even by taking advantage of every break and by closely following the ball frequently loosely handled by the Army players Yale's touchdown was made by Pond after a sensational 48-yard run in the first quarter through the entire Army team At no time in the game did Yale threaten the Army line except through the air On the other hand the Army was almost constantly menacing the ale goal line only to find itself blocked by a stubborn defense or handi-caped by poor handling of the ball It was not until the final quarter hat the Army cashed in on its strength and bv sheer power of attack battered its way to and across the Yale goal line It was the oven-advancing form of 2V ORLEANS La Nov 1 triumphant march toward the goal of Southern Conference champions was stopped this afternoon The great little who two weeks ago advanced to the top pedestal by beating the great Yandervilt team with its All-American Bomar was forced to sip the bitter cup of defeat for the first time this season bowing before an equally great team from Mississippi A by a count of 14 to 6 The Greenies were as game a bunch of fighters in defeat as in victory They fought hard in the last quarter to try and stall off defeat Three times the Aggies got within tile shadow of their goal ilne onre being stopped on the five-yard line once on the seven-yard line and the last time in a desperate attempt to score the last touchdown they found themselves up against a brick wall losing the ball on downs on Tulane onevyard line As long as the score stood 7 to against them the Greenies knew that a light still flickered in the fire and in their desperation to overcome his mere goal kicked after touchdown resorted to passing Herein lies the story of their defeat Tulanc's great passing attack which worked wonders against A an- VICTORS OLE MISS IS SWAMPED BI TIDE OF Mill extra point tying the score Yale tried desperately in the final quarter to break the deadlock but its efforts were futile Twice a Yale place kick loafed its way toward the Army goal posts but failed to register a count The Army backfield as a unit proved far more formidable than tho Eli backfield Gilmore Wood Wilson and Yoemans piercing- the Y'ale line 1 almost at will except when the Bull Hog was backed up to its own goal line Tribute was paid to the late Percy Haughton between the halves when an Army bugler sounded taps while the 80000 spectators stood with i hats doffed The ceremony
