Freight business both in and out of Leavenworth is picking up, according to the reports at the various freight offices. Freight coming in is mostly in car load lots and the yards are full of freight consigned to local firms.

Because of the weather this winter, goods consigned for the spring trade have been held up and wholesalers in the East did not ship until the weather showed signs of changing. Then, too, there is the annual spring freight rash. Business is usually good at this time of the year and this, coupled with the freight caused by delays, keeps freight employes "busy. At all of the freight houses yesterday the entire forces of workmen were busy loading and unloading cars. From now on business is expected to increase and all the roads in Leav- en worth are looking or" a prosperous year in their freight trade.

As most of the lines out of here are now open, the local wholesalers are sending out big consignments of goods to their" custodi ers in this territory.
