Commissioners Scored By West Hll Members. The will go ahead with tho work on the Wolf ledge sewer which has been the subject of so much talk. Two members of the flnuncii commit, tee. Messrs. ttarrluk and Walker, tec- considered their action in throwing out tho bills for the work done when they learned.the true state of affairs In Mon day night's Council meeting, and tho Council oidered the bills paid.

City 'Commissioner Dan MeGarry explained that the hewer Is aheady being used though It hns no outlet; that other local sewers aro ready to bo connected, with this sewer and proporty owners will resist payment if 'tho work Is jiot done within reasonable tlnio; that thcte aro but about COO feet oC tho sewer yet to be built, There is money In the sinking fund which can bo 'Used for this sower aud paid back as come in. Ksgato said this very Council had paid the bills In that way before and might do so again though It was not strictly legal. This was done and a bill of Wildes Son which had been omitted from tho pay roll was al-so Included in the claims ordinance. In this case tho money was In tho sink, ing fund to the credit of the fund which should be drawn upon though not In tho fund Itself. It was explained that the auditor is responsible for a great deal of sewer assessment money being put Into sewer sinking fund, but an effort Is now being made to give, each sewer a fund of its own.

ABOUT LIGHTS. "Electric lights were all right 10 or 15 years ago; they were a novelty, then," said Mr. Seidell lu a long report on tho light question. He said that S7 of 120 cities were securing their lighting to better advantage than AR ron. Ho maintained that Welshaoh gas lamps aro the only practical street lights and that with them Ihc siinm candlo power could be secured at a post.

TJo challenged nnyone to discuss the lighting question with him. Mr. Seidell Is with the Akron Gas Co. and hns made a study or lighting. Ho scored the Commissioners for havlngsaid that lighting expenses could not be reduced.

How and Why They Are Given Boxwell Graduates by Buchtel College. A feature connected with tlie Box-well examination not fully understood by a good many people is the free scholarships given by Buchtel college. There seems to be an Impression that this Is In accordance with tiio provisions of tho Boxwell law. This is a mistake. The scholarships aro given gratuitously by Buchtel us a further Inspiration to the pupils of township schools.

AH Under 16 Must be at Home. Ordinance Passes First Reading in Council. Will Probabiy be Made a Law at Next Meeting. A curfew ordinance passed Us first reading in the 'Council Monday night, but could not muster the votes to be inndo a law on the spot. It provides that no person under 1(1 years ot ago shall be allowed upon the streets after 8 o'clock p.m., except In company of parent or other guardian, 'or except when performing some reasonable service with the permission of parents or guaidians.

Policemen are instructed to airest violators of the ordinance on sight. If it be a first offense the offender shall be taken home and not locked up unless the parents wish It. The penalty Is a One of not less than $1 nor nioie than $10, Mr. (Juuthlcr said the oidinance wiih unreasonably strict; that" It would become iuopciatlve because of that 1 within a mouth. Mr.

Piske was of the same opinion and Mr. Meisi wanted time IV think over It. Mr. l.inehau felt likewise and these four votes pro-vented the mraMiro being passed then and thcie. Hev.

A. I.iudoniuth, of tho First Presbyterian church spoko nt length lu favor of the ordinance tolllug of tho success of the curfew elsewhere. He quoted Principal l.ee Knight of the Kent school In East Akton as having publicly ad Id: "We havo little fellows in East Akron today who. If something Is nut done soon, will turn out as bad as any wo have seen." Mayor W. B.

Doyle urged the Council to go slowly, though he favored the ordinance he said. He slated that Sometime Akron will have a club for boys and he would like provision to bo made that Its members should not be arrested In going or coming after 8 That there is no separate place lu the city prison where Juveniles can be locked up, was further argument against the ordinance. Tho Mayor had talked with all the boys arrested after the dynamiting. He found that all had read dime novels uud nil had been accustomed to go to tho camps of tramps on Sunday afternoons. The boys themselves said tho tramps told them how to become criminals.

Councilman Walker insisted on tho ordinance being passed at once but the necessary two-thirds voto for the suspension of thu rules was lacking. PROMOTERS Given Right of Way Brush Farm.
