Oakland, beg to call -your attention to the many needs of the poor orphan children we are trying to care for. We have over 25 young women and" small children we are caring for and teaching to be efficient domestics, believing this is the best way to educate the girls of our race, especially those girls who have no parents to look after them. Instead of letting them go astray, we are teaching- them how t6 work and render good service to. ttie housewife, thereby making better citizens out of them.

These girls are too' poor to pay anything for their Hence we must call upon the public to help us carry on this work. We not only teach these young women to work, but we must take care of the little children as well. We have over 15 tots who have no mothers. Our needs for these children are clothing, such as underwear, shoes; provisions, Kuch as potatoes, rice and oatmeal; in fact, provisions of any kind will be greatly appreciated. We make this appeal in God's name, for we feel sure if the public knew our actual conditions they would render us some help, especially at this particular time, when we are striving with, might and main to meet the payment on our property and for this cause cannot give the little ones any Christmas as we would like to.

We must appeal to the public to help in our struggles to carry on tliis great work. Send all donations to National Industrial and Orphan school, Beulah Heights, Oakland, Cal. Thanking you for whatever you send us, we remain, your most faithful servants, C. H. DUVALL, President.
