on a special train from Greensboro to Raleigh on September 17 1906 Ile was a member of a committee from Greensboro to inept Mr Bryan and escort him to Greentib011) where he was to speak that night Vhen Mr laryan reached Greensboro as is well remembered he refused absolutely to make a political address but delivered one of the most beautiful eulogies on the life of Dr Meiver ever heard in that Seaboard wreck will be conducted Jointly this afternoon at 9:30 o'clock from the Edenton Street Methodist church of which both were members Lev Harry North officiating The funeral will be attended in a body by Masons and Odd Fellows and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineer and the members of these respective lodges are requented to meet In their halis promptly at 2:30 o'clock to attend the funeral William Alpheus Faison was 51 years of age and was born in Raleigh His father Rufus Faison also an engineer was killed by au explosion of the boiler of his engine His mother is living and for many years mado her home with the only son William Faison first began his railroad work as an apprentice with the old Atlantic and North Carolina known as the "old Mullet" railroad now a Part of the Norfolk Southern system Rising from apprentice he beetone engineer and in 1886 Caine to the Seaboard Air Line as passenger engineer and for twenty-six years served In that capacity being at the time of his death that road's oldest eugineer in point of service Ile was respected and loved by every railroad man on the divistoM and highly esteemed by all who knew him Ile always had a kind word for all and waei a conscientous Christian He wasa Motion and member of the local lodge of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers He was married about twenty-fourl years ago to Miss Massie Horton of Raleigh daughter of the late Rufus Horton At the time of Mr liorton's1 death he was the oldest engineer of the local division of the Seaboard Air Line in point of service Besidea hii wife he is survived by four stins and one daughter: Rufus Faison of Richmond William Thomas Earl and Margaret Faison of Raleigh Cornelius IL Beckham has been in the service of the Seaboard Air Line twenty-three years He was a native of Raleigh and was born forty-six! years ago He was educated at idornor Military school and later at Wake Forest college After graduating from college he entered the employ of the Seaboard and began his work of en-1 gineer on a freight train He was elevated after a few years to passenger engineer Ile WWI twice married His first wife was Miss Mary Chnningham Gibson His second wife who ViVPS him wail Mies Jennie Rowland of Middleburg He is also survived by two daughters Mn Albert Bretseh of Wilmington and Mrs Partin of Raleigh Mr Beckham was ponular to a large degree and well known by railroad men all over North Carolina Familiarly known as "Pig" he was jovial and good natured being able to win friends and knowing how to hold them lie Was a member of the Edenton Street Methodist
